go forth, heart

chase the winds for that soul to love

but in the end

remember yourself for you're enough.

/

oh, once upon a time

the boy dreamed he could spin

the sun upon his fingertips

oh, and heaven held it not a crime

when he would set the skies alight

with a breeze from his lips

/

and the stars, painted mares on the carousel

a maelstrom of fireflies

they'd spin 'round and 'round

refracting, refracting

as he drank from their thousand hues.

/

through a tunnel he ran, watching, watching

as dreams are born, and ground to dust again

and the end of time

never could stop him.

/

those eyes long forgot how the sun had spun

they closed; another opened

the grains just keep falling.

/

the sunsets; he let them sear the clouds

the inkstains; he let them wash the page

the nightlight; he held its shine, a mirror

and amid all the pictures he painted

lives he'd lived a thousand times over

voices he sang to when out of hope

there smiles her name

luminescent as Faith.

/

go forth, heart

waking up never meant letting go.
