Chapter Thirty
-I'm Not Gay-

We stared at each other for what felt like a year and a half.

Crap. Crap. Crap. Crap. Crap. Crap. Crap. Crap. Crap. Crap. Crap. Crap. Crap. Crap. Crap. Crap. Crap. Crap. Crap. Crap. Crap. Crap. Crap. Crap. Crap. Crap. Crap. Crap. Crap. Crap. Crap. Crap. Crap. Something needed to be said and when it started the stammering basically ping ponged between the two of us.

"I- uh, we, you-"

"I'm not, at least-we, uh."

"You see, uh- I know, you- I, uh."

"I've never, I don't, uh, can't."

"I didn't mean- I mean, I know, uh, it's not."

"I'm not gay," Jake spoke the first coherent string of words. "It's cool if you are, but," he shook his head at me, his eyes still wide, holding his hands up defensively.

"I know," I nodded at him, "I'm not either, it's just... Shit." I stepped down the stairs and walked a couple steps away from him before turning around. I gripped the hair of the wig in my fingers in a frustrated move. "I've messed this up so bad," I groaned, not meeting his eyes.

"You're not gay?" He questioned slowly. I looked at him for a long silent moment, chewing my bottom lip. "But you just kissed me?" He asked quietly.

"You kissed me back," I reminded him.

"Not really," he frowned at me, crossing his arm defensively, his face darkening.

"Chyea," I snorted at him, "You kind of did, I felt your lips responding to mine."

Yeah, well, I'm drunk!" He exclaimed quickly. "My reaction time has slowed."

"So am I!" I responded just as fast. "My whole thought process is extremely sluggish too."

"Well that's hardly an excuse!" He scoffed and I scoffed too.

"Back at you, bud," I bit back at him.

"Well I'm definitely not gay! I didn't mean to kiss you back! I just didn't know what to do, guys don't usually make moves on me." I stopped and stared at him for a long silent moment. He looked extremely confused and vulnerable. I couldn't goad him into a fight to get out of this situation. I had to man up and tell him the truth.

Kill me.

"Ah, horse nuggets," i swore under my breathe before sighing loudly. "I have to tell you now. God dammit," I groaned to myself changing tactics.

"Tell me what?" He asked slowly.

"What do you know of the course work Taylor is doing?" I asked him and he shrugged dumbly.

"Nothing, what's Taylor got to do with it?" He added another question to the list that was steadily growing.

"A lot," I replied with an unamused laugh. "Listen, can we just go up to the room?" I asked, "There is a lot of explaining I need to do and I'd rather it not be done in public," I told him and he stared at me still clearly confused for a moment before slowly gesturing his head towards the top of the stairs before he started moving up them.

We got to our room and Jake held the door open for me as I walked past him.

"You may want to sit down for this one," I murmured to him.
