as he thought of the last days
that he and she shared.

"Perhaps it's for the best.",
and she thought of the good times,
forgetting the rest.
He left her a message,
"I'm sorry it failed,
it's my fault we argued,
and my fault I bailed."
She left him a message
taking share in the blame,
knowing this was
the next move in the game.
He left her a message
asking her to forgive
and to tell her in detail,
how he'd need her to live.
She left him a message
that she had been wrong,
that she had been foolish
while he had been strong.
He left her a message
to meet him later that day,
to show he was sorry
for those things he did say.
She left him a message
to come to her room
where they'd re-start the cycle
that would lead to their doom
