Mary's POV
I was sitting in a chair sharpening my blade while the others were interrogating a demon. "You ready to talk?" Dean asked throwing holy water on the demon. "I don't know. I don't know anything!" The demon said. "Oh, you hear that, guys? He doesn't know anything." Ricky said. "Yeah we heard." Kara said. "I'm telling you the truth." The demon said. "Oh, you are? My god, then I owe you an apology. Allow me to make it up to you. I'm gonna ask you one last time...Who holds my contract?" Dean asked pouring holy water down the demon's mouth. The demon starts laughing. "Your mother. Yeah, she, uh, showed it to me right before I bent her over." The demon said. "I want a name. Or else..." Dean said. "Or what? You're gonna squirt your holy water in both ends? Please. Brother, that's like a fleabite compared to what's coming to me if I tell you jack. Do what you want. The only thing I'm scared of is the demon holding your ticket." The demon said. "What about the princess of hell?" Sam asked and I smiled the demon looked at the blade and me and I made my eyes turn purple scaring him more than anything and Sam started an exorcism. "Go ahead. Send me back to hell... 'Cause when you get there, I'll be waiting for you...with a few pals who are dying for a nice little meet and greet with Dean Winchester." The demon said. "Mae." Kara said. I stood up and walked up to him smirked and he looked terrified. "Send me back to hell , please your highness." He said. "Hmm Nah." I said and stabbed him in the stomach his meat suit admitted a little bit of lightning and then died. I was now in the living room of the cabin while Sam was on the phone. "You ran the prints twice? Are you sure? Okay. Yeah, just chalk it up to lab error. Don't I know it. Okay. Thanks. Yeah, I'll tell the lieutenant." Sam said Dean and Ricky came in I looked at them. "Bury the body?" I asked as Sam hung up. "Yeah. Looks like these demons ride 'em hard just for kicks." Ricky said. "What was the phone call about?" Dean asked. "Remember that thing in the paper yesterday?" Kara asked. "Stripper suffocates dude with thighs?" Ricky asked. "The other thing." Sam said sighing. "Right, the guy that walks into the E.R. and kneels over dead. His stomach's ripped out?" Dean said. "His liver, actually. Anyways, we just found out something pretty damn interesting." I said. "What?" Ricky asked. "The dead body covered in bloody fingerprints, not the victim's." Kara said. "Okay, great. My man Dave Caruso will be stoked to hear it." Dean said. "Those fingerprints match a guy who died in 1981." I said. "Really. So, what are we talking? Uh, walking dead? Walking, killing dead?" Ricky said. "Maybe." Sam said. "Zombies do like the other other white meat. Huh. Speaking of, what do you care about zombies?" Dean said. "What do you mean?" Kara asked. "Well, you've been on soul-saving detail for months now. And we're three weeks out, and all of a sudden, you guys are interested in some hot zombie action?" Ricky said. "Hey, man, you're the one who's been all gung ho to hunt. I just thought we'd be doing you a favor." I said. "Hey, no, no, no, no, no. I didn't say I didn't want to do it, okay. I mean obviously I want to hunt some zombies." Dean said. "Okay, fine, whatever." Sam said. I was now in the backseat with Ricky while the others checked the body. They came back after an hour of me listening to Ricky rant about how hot Rider Strong is. "Okay so it ain't a zombie." Sam said. "Okay do we have duct tape?" I asked. "No why?" Kara asked. "Ricky is talking about hot guys again." I said. "Ricky shut up." Dean said. "Okay." Ricky said. We were now sitting in the motel Alison came when I called her so she was here and brought us food Persphone made. "So, I got a theory." Kara said. "Yeah?" Dean asked happily eating a veggie burger. "Yeah, I talked to Mr. Giggle's doctor. Turns out his incisions were sewn up with silk." Kara said. "That's weird." Ricky said. "Yeah, nowadays it is, but silk used to be the suture of choice back in the early 19th century. It was really problematic. Patients would get massive infections. The death rate was insane." I said, remembering when I was kid and wanted to become a plague doctor. "Good times." Dean said. "Right, so doctors, they had to do whatever they could to keep infections from spreading. One way was maggots." Alison said. "Alice, I'm eating." Dean said. "It actually kind of worked because maggots, they eat bad tissue, and they leave good tissue. And get this. When they found our guy, his body cavity was stuffed full of maggots." Kara said. "Dudes, I'm eating! Alright, let me get this straight. So, people are getting ganked, right?" Dean said. "Yeah." I said. "A little antiques roadshow surgery, some organ theft. But why is this all sounding familiar?" Sam said. "Because you heard it before. When you were a kid... from Dad. Doc Benton... real-life doctor, lived in New Hampshire, brilliant and obsessed with alchemy, especially how to live forever. So, in 1816, Doc abandons his practice and..." I trailed off taking out dad's journal. "Right, yeah, nobody hears from him for like 20 years, and all of sudden, people start showing up dead." Sam said. "Dead or – or missing an organ or the hand or some other kind of part." I said. "Cause whatever he was doing was actually working. He just kept on ticking. Parts would wear out, he'd replace them." Ricky said. "But I thought Dad hunted him down and took his heart out." Dean said. "Yeah, I guess the Doc must have plugged in a new one." Alison said. "All right, where's he doing the deed?" Sam asked. "According to this, Benton's picky about where he sets up his lab. He likes dense forest with access to a river or stream or some kind of freshwater." I said reading. "Why?" Dean asked taking a huge bite of the burger. "Because that's where he likes to dump the bile and intestines and fecal matter." I said. "Lost your appetite yet?" Sam asked smirking. "Oh baby, I can't stay mad at you." Dean said eating the burger. We were now looking at a map. "So these are all the cabins. Most of them have been abandoned for years." Kara said. "So what the hell are we waiting for?" Ricky asked. Dean phone rang. "Bobby." Dean said it on speaker. "Hey. Think we finally got a bead on Bela." Bobby said. "We're listening." Sam said. "Rufus Turner." Hades said. "Who's that? Like a Cleveland steamer?" I asked. "He's a hunter, or he used to be." Persephone said. "And now?" Kara asked. "Hermit mostly. Does a little selling on the side. Anyway. I put the word out on Bela months ago. He just called. Said a woman got in touch, wanted to buy some things." Bobby said. "And he thinks it's Bela?" Alison asked. "British accent, went by the name Mina Chandler." Hades said. "She's used that before. Well, it's kinda of a sloppy move, isn't it? Getting in contact with one of your old friends." Ricky said. "Friend? We haven't laid eyes on him in fifteen years. He's not the Christmas card type. I doubt she knows we know him. Canaan, Vermont." Persphone said. "Thanks, guys. We're on our way." Sam said. "One other thing. Take a bottle of Johnnie Walker Blue." Bobby said. "Got it." Dean said hanging up. "Come on." Ricky said. "What? Whoa, whoa, whoa. Hold on a second." Kara said. "Come on. Get your stuff. The clock's ticking." Sam said. "Look, I think we should stay here and finish the case." I said. "You girls insane?" Dean asked. "Dean, there's no way she still has the Colt! That was months ago! She probably sold it the second she got it." Alison said. "Well, then we'll kill her. Win-win." Ricky said. "Guys." Kara said. "Kara, we are going." Dean said. "No." I said. "Why the hell not?" Sam asked. "Guys, this, this here. Now. This is what's gonna save you." Kara said. "What? Chasing some Frankenstein?" Dean said. "More like Frankenstein and the Hunhback of Notre Dame's kid." I said. "Chasing immortality. Look, Benton can't die. We find out how he did it, we can do it to you." Alison said knowing what Kara was thinking. "What are you three talking about?" Ricky asked. "You have to die before you go to hell, right? So, if you can never die, then..." Kara trailed off. "Wait, wait, wait. Wait a second. Did you know that this was Doc Benton from the jump?" Dean said. "No, maybe, I'm gonna go back to no." I said. "Look, we were hoping." Kara said. "So the whole zombie thing, it was lying to us?" Sam asked. "We didn't wanna say anything until we were sure, Dean. All we're trying to do is find an answer here." Kara said. "No. What you're trying to do is chase Slicy McHackey here. And to kill him? No. You wanna buy him a freaking beer. You wanna study him." Ricky said to Kara and I. "We were just trying to help." I said. "You're not helping! You forget that if I welch on this deal, Sam dies. Guess what, living forever is welching." Dean said. "Fine! Then, whatever the magic pill is, I'll take it too!" Kara said. "Oh, what is this? Sid and Nancy? No. It's just like Bobby's been saying. We kill the demon who owns the contract and this whole damn thing wipes clean. That's our best shot." Sam said. "Even if you had the Colt, guys, who are you gonna shoot? We have no idea who holds the ticket." Alison said. "Well, we'll shoot the hellhounds then before they slash him up. Now, you guys coming or not?" Ricky said. "We're staying here." I said. "No, you're not. 'Cause we're not gonna let you wander out in the woods alone to track some organ stealing freak." Sam said. "Why, because we're girls?" Alison asked. "We just don't want you three hurt." Dean said. "Leave now before Mae and I tear out your lungs." Kara said. The guys left and the three of us looked at each other. "Let's hunt this son of a bitch down." I said they nodded. We drove to the woods in Alison's car, we parked and I looked at the map. "Come on." Kara said. We were walking and found a cabin and broke in we were looking around and found a journal I saw Alison pocketed it. We walked further downstairs to a basement, saw a bunch of maggots in a jar, and a dead body. "Lovely." I mumbled. "Guys." Alison said we saw a lady who had maggots on her arm. I looked and saw a pulse her eyes snapped open and she almost screamed I put my hand over her mouth. "Shh! Shh! Shh! It's okay. We're here to help you. We're here to help you. We're gonna help you. I'm sorry. I'm sorry. " Kara said putting a rag over her arm and Alison was somehow strong enough to run with the lady out of the cabin we were running and Dr. Benton grabbed me from behind. I got my lighting bolt blade and cut his ear off making him flinch back and I knocked him back with my head and got in the car in the back with the lady and Alison drove over Dr. Benton. I wrapped the lady's arm with gauze. "Thank you." She said now out of shock. "No problem." I said. We got her to the hospital and then back at the motel. I saw my phone ring, I answered it seeing it was Dean. "Yeah, sexist pig." I said. "Very funny we found Bela." Dean said. "And?" Alison asked. "She didn't have the colt." Sam said. "Does that mean?" I asked. "No, no, she deserves to die a dozen times over, but we couldn't do it." Ricky said. "I'm really screwed, guys." Dean said. "No you're not." I said. "But you three were right. Bela was a goose chase. The Colt's gone, and this time I'm really screwed, guys." Dean said sadly through the phone. "Maybe not. Look, Dean, we found Benton's cabin." Kara said. "You three okay? Was he there?" Ricky asked. "Yeah." Alison said. "Did you kill him?" Sam asked. "I cut off his ear and Alison ran him over with her car." I said. "So just badly injured him." Dean said. "Dean, please just listen for a second. We found his lab book, and it has the formula." Kara said. "What, the live-forever formula?" Sam asked. "Yeah." Alison, Kara, and I said in unison. "Great, let us guess. He's got to drink blood out of a baby's skull?" Ricky said. "Ew." I said disgusted. "No, that's the thing. It's not black magic. There's no blood sacrifice or anything. It's just science, Dean. Very, very extremely weird science, but..." Kara trailed off. "Wait, wait, wait. What are...What are you saying?" Dean said. "Dean, I think it might be doable. I mean, I know we've hit a lot of walls, but I...I think this formula, I think it might be it. This could save you." Kara said. "Okay, so, this formula." Dean said. "Well, I mean, look, look, we're not in the clear yet. There are still things that I don't get." Alison said. I went out to get some air and felt a hand on my mouth I tried screaming and went unconscious. I woke up tied to a table next to Alison and Kara. I tried to scream but my mouth was sewed shut. "You three can relax. It's all gonna be okay. Ain't nothing gonna happen here that you got to worry about, Mary, Kara, and Alison. Your chances of coming out of this procedure alive? Very, very high." Dr. Benton said missing an eye and an ear. "How do you know our names?" Kara asked. "Oh...I know. You think I'm some kind of monster, don't you? Well, I got to tell you, I have never done one thing that I did not have to do. This whole eternal-life thing is very high-maintenance. If something goes bad, like my eyes here...you got to replace them. And sometimes things get damaged, like when Mary's father cut out my heart. Now, that...That was very inconvenient. So, I'm sure that you three can understand all the joy I felt when I read all about myself here in his journal. Kind of makes this whole thing just feel like some kind of family reunion, don't it? Well, I guess it's about time that we get this thing started." Dr. Benton said getting a melon baller out going near Alison I heard gunshots ring out I saw Ricky, Sam, and Dean. "Shoot all you want." He said. I then saw Ricky plunge a dagger in Dr. Benton's heart. "A dagger? What part of immortality do you not understand? Pity about the heart, though. It was a brand-new one." Dr. Benton said. "Good. It should be pumping nice and strong... Sending this stuff throughout your whole body." Sam said and Ricky showed a chloroform bottle. "See, I picked up your little bottle upstairs and dipped the dagger in it." Ricky said. They unchained us and Ricky took me back to the motel and started unsewing my mouth. "Hades and Persephone gave Sam and Dean an earful for letting you hunt alone with Kara and Alison." Ricky said finally finishing unsewing my mouth. "Of course." I said moving my jaw so it wasn't so cramped. We were now in the impala and Dean called Bela who was going to kill us. "Hiya, Bela. Here's a fun fact you may not know. I felt your hand in my pocket, when you swiped that motel receipt." Dean said. "You guys don't understand." Bela said. "Oh, I'm pretty sure I understand perfectly. See, I noticed something interesting in your hotel room. Something tucked above the door. An herb. Devil's shoestring? There's only one use for that. Holding hellhounds at bay. So you know what I did, I went back and I took another look at your folks' obit. Turns out they died ten years ago today. You didn't kill them. A demon did your dirty work. You made a deal, didn't you, Bela. And it's come due." Sam said. Bela explained she made a demon deal when she was younger. "Is that why you stole the Colt, huh? Try to wiggle out of your deal, our gun for your soul?" I asked. "Yes." Bela said. "But stealing the Colt wasn't quite enough, I'm guessing." Ricky said. "They changed the deal. They wanted me to kill Sam, Kara, and Mary." Bela said, great they want to murder me now. "Really! Wow, demons untrustworthy. Shocker. That's, uh, kind of a tight deadline too – what time is it? Well, look at that, almost midnight." I said seeing it looked like it was midnight. "Guys, listen I need help." Bela said. "Sweetheart, we are weeks past help." Dean said. "I know I don't deserve it." Bela said. "You know what, you're right, you don't. But you know what the bitch of the bunch is? If you would have just come to us sooner and asked for help we probably could have taken the Colt and saved you." Kara said. "I know, and saved Dean. I know about your deal, Dean." Bela said. "And who told you that?" Dean asked. "The Demon that holds it. They hold mine too. They said they hold every deal." Bela said. "They?" I asked. "Luke and Lilith." Bela said. "Luke and Lilith, why should we trust you." Kara said. "You shouldn't but it's the truth. I heard hellhounds and her scream she died, Dean hung up the phone. "Well that's one less migraine." I said. They nodded and dean continued driving.
