Sakuras POV

I watched as Beth fell to the ground, her body trembling, and her voice strained as she gritted her teeth, trying her best to handle the pain she was obviously in. Kin stopped and started to laugh at Beth, her chuckles dark and hollow. Shoving her back I ran over to Beth.

"Beth!" She simply gripped onto my dress, her eyes full of weakness and pain. I had never seen Beth look so vulnerable. She seemed so confident and perfect, she reminded me of Ino in many retrospects. However, she had a sort of kindness that Ino didn't. She never contemplated the risks associated with saving someone. She'd drop everything and jump in between someone and their potential threat, no hesitation. And now was no different. Fighting as hard as she could to protect someone she'd known less than a year.

"Stop it!" I yelled out.

Dosu smiled and covered the contraption on his arm. He stayed silent as Beth stopped clutching at my clothing and simply fell to the ground, staring into the dirt, exhausted.

"Touch her again and I'll make you wish you hadn't". I didn't know what had awakened inside me, but all of a sudden a burst of confidence flooded through my veins. Adrenaline coursed through me. It was as if Beth's strength and determination had transferred to me.

At this Beth looked up at me, her breathing heavy and her body weakened. I helped her to the side of the clearing, leaning her fragile body against a nearby tree. She breathed the words "thankyou" as I pulled away to face our enemies. Lee had joined me now. He looked like he'd only just warmed up and that nothing that Zaku had done had much effected him. I looked at Dosu with utter hatred and then glanced at Lee.

"Stay out of this fight for now Sakura. Look at what happened to Beth." With that I nodded and took a few steps back, towards the cave, watching the events unfold. Beth had closed her eyes briefly and was breathing slightly easier from what I could tell, but as I looked more closely, I saw a trail of blood seeping from her ears and nose.

Lee advanced on Dosu, attacking as quickly as a lightning bolt. He was almost a blur to me, every move perfectly executed and so direct. Dosu was overwhelmed almost immediately and that only increased as Lee started to perform a familiar move. Kicking Dosu upside the head, the two flew up, Lee coming up behind Dosu. The Lotus.

Lee wrapped his arm bandages around Dosu's body, holding him in place for the powerful taijutsu move, making it impossible to escape. Lee built up the momentum until the two boys looked like a meteor plunging towards earth, flames engulfing them. In the corner of my eye I could see Zaku doing something, his hands placed firmly on the ground, a cheeky smile on his face.

As Lee and Dosu landed, a wave of air blew towards me, blowing my hair slightly in the wind. This was when Lee emerged from the large, floating cloud of dust that had formed, looking pleased with himself. However, Dosu closely followed him, shaking his head and acting as if he was unharmed. My eyes widened in shock.

Sasuke had been completely obliterated by that single technique, Lee having used it during their fight. What was so different about Dosu that allowed him to brush off the attack without a scratch? Lee looked horrified as he turned to see what had made me so worried, his body stiff, his fists clenched.

"How?!" Lee commented, his eyes just as wide as my own.

"Took you long enough..." Dosu said, facing Zaku who was shaking the dirt from his hands.

"Now, my turn" Dosu announced as he charged for Lee who dodged the attack easy. I smiled as Dosu stayed still, Lee standing in the middle of the space between Dosu and me.

I didn't realise what was happening until Lee was on the floor just as Beth had been. He yelled out in pain, holding onto his right ear. Blood streamed from the ear, making me gasp, and caused Lee to be completely immobilized. Dosu approached the damaged Lee, acting as if he were superior and the fight over. As he commented on how idiotic it was that Lee challenged him and his squad I felt anger rise up within me. My fists shook uncontrollably and I was about to jump into the fight when Lee began to move.

His body shook. His green jumpsuit making his skin look abnormally pale against his jet black hair. He slowly got to his feet, the top half of his body still leaning down, his arms weak and floppy. Dosu smirked and charged once again, an attack which Lee couldn't block.

Lee fell back and hit the floor in a clump. The attack on his right ear had clearly put off his balance and hearing, for a person who relied solely on hand-to-hand combat, the loss of those senses were severe. With another kick Lee was down, unable to get back up again. I watched, still, despair all over my face. I wished Naruto or Sasuke were awake. I wished Beth wasn't hurt. I felt so alone. But there was no time to dwell on the fact that my odds of winning the fight were slim to none, I had to attack.

As Dosu went to finish Lee off permanently, I threw five shuriken stars towards him, all of them dead on target. Deflecting them, the stars bounced off of him and fell to the floor. I gasped and ran to hide before my next attack. Zaku smiled, knowing that I was the last person to be taken care of.

Grabbing me from behind, Kin pushed me to my knees, gripping tightly onto my hair. Shaking me around mockingly, smirking as she kicked me down further.

"You have such soft hair. I wish I had hair like this but I don't have time since I'm always so busy training". I felt a shockwave run down my spine. Grabbing out a kunai knife I held it tightly within my grasp. "Don't even think about using that on me." She chuckled.

"It's not for you." At this she stopped, a look of genuine surprise on her face as I raised the kunai to my long hair and sliced through. Locks of hair spread out through the clearing. Kin fell back as I jumped out to attack Zaku.

Zaku saw me coming so I performed a replacement jutsu and attacked from another angle. Angle after angle, each time Zaku was expecting it. My heart pounded but I kept on going.

It's time for you to watch my back!
