but tough people do."
Robert H Schuller

Bri wakes before Skylar does, and starts making bacon, eggs and toast for herself and the teen.

When Skylar wakes up, she's confused for a moment, before recalling the events of the day before; more specifically, her being put into the blonde teacher's care.

Skylar brushes through her long, knotted strawberry blonde hair, facing the mirror above the drawers.

A knock at the bedroom door startles her, causing the hairbrush to drop to the floor.

"Skylar?" Bri's voice is soft and caring, "Are you okay?"

The teen is quick to open the door, a sheepish smile on her face, "I'm fine; you just startled me."

"I'm sorry," Bri apologises, "I just wanted to let you know I've made breakfast- bacon, eggs, and toast."

Shock overcomes Skylar, and she finds herself nodding, "Thank you. I'll be down in a couple of minutes."
The blonde smiles, "You can take your time, but it'll probably taste better while it's still warm."

Bri leaves the teen, heading down the stairs and into the kitchen, where she serves up breakfast and puts the kettle on; waiting patiently for the teen to come down.

A few minutes later, a dressed Skylar is walking down the stairs, the smell of bacon beckoning her towards the kitchen.

Comfortable conversation ensues over breakfast, and the teen finds herself feeling much happier and safer with the teacher she had known for less than three days, than with her father, who she had spent her whole life with.

"Are you wanting to help with the barbecue at the school?" Bri asks politely.

Skylar is obviously confused, so Bri explains the barbecue.
"Oh, uh, no, not really," the strawberry blonde responds, expecting backlash at her unwillingness to help.

"That's fine," Bri responds with a smile, "Do you want to do anything specific today? I might have to go out, but if you want to do anything, I can make a plan."

"Thank you," Skylar exhales, "For everything you've done so far, and for everything you're doing."

"You don't need to thank me," Bri remarks, a sparkle in her eyes, "The biggest thanks you could give me is to grow into yourself, and to make some friends."

Skylar nods, determined on making the woman, who she believes saved her from her father, proud.

"I'm going to head out for a bit," Bri states, "but, if you want, I can come back later and we can go to the grill for lunch."

"Sounds good to me," the strawberry blonde nods, "I need to do some catching up on school work anyways."

"If you struggle with anything, I can help you with it tonight, or even at lunch," the woman says, as she gathers her things, "I'll message you when I'm on my way."

"See you later," Skylar calls as Bri leaves, already fairly comfortable in the teacher's house.

The banshee walks up to her car, her phone buzzing with a message stopping her before she can climb in.

Trevor and I are going to meet with one of our contacts to try and get more info.

Be safe.

When she looks up again, Elijah is standing in her line of sight, staring right at her.

"Stop staring at me like a creep," Bri quips, knowing the Original can hear her, "If you want to talk to me, just come over here, and do it."
