Our heroes are riding to Cinnabar Island on Ash's Lapras, Ash taking back Elekid, Magby, Igglybuff, Voltorb, Magnemite, Koffing, Ekans, Shellder, two of the Tyrogues, and Krabby.
Ash finds an abandoned Meowth and takes her in his team after feeding her. Ash scanned his new pokemon.

Meowth withdraws its sharp claws into its paws to slinkily sneak about without making any incriminating footsteps. For some reason, this Pokémon loves shiny coins that glitter with light. This Meowth is level 49 with the Ability Technician and knows the moves Pay Day, Slash,Fury Swipes, Screech, Assurance, Night Slash, Fake Out, Swift, Shadow Claw, Hypnosis *Egg Move*, and Covet*Egg Move*]
When they arrive, they find a trainer and Ash beats it, thanks to the battle he used with Krabby, Magnemite, and Grimer evolves into Kingler, Magneton, and Muk. Ash scans the three.

A link cluster formed of several Magnemite. It discharges powerful magnetic waves at high voltage.
This Magneton is level 66 and knows the moves Thunder Wave, Sonic Boom, Light Screen, Thunderbolt, Thunder ,Screech,Flash Cannon, Shock Wave,Iron Defense, Magnet Bomb, Supersonic, Spark, Tri Attack, Discharge, Lock-On, Gyro Ball, Electro Ball, and Zap Cannon.]
[Muk, the Sludge Pokemon and the evolved form of Grimer.
Its body is made of a powerful poison. Touching it accidentally will cause a fever that requires bed rest.
This Muk is level 62 and knows the moves Sludge, Screech, Minimize, Sludge Bomb, Mud Bomb, Dark Pulse, Sludge Wave, Moonblast, Gunk Shot, Acid Armor, Toxic, Poison Jab, Venoshock, Shadow Sneak*Egg Move*, and Shadow Punch*Egg Move*]
Muk was too affectionate, smothering Ash, but he was able to return him in the pokeball.
They get to the Cinnabar Pokemon Center, having their pokemon having their batteries recharged and Brock still flirting with Nurse Joy, but Misty drags him away from the pink haired nurse, muttering about how him flirting with woman was getting old.
Ash made his regular call to Trip, having a nice talk with him and agreeing after Kanto, the Orange Islands, Johto, Hoenn, and Sinnoh, Ash would travel Unova with Trip.
You see, the reason for this arrangement, is because Trip and his mother made a wager, if he can get eight badges from Kanto, Johto, Hoenn, and Sinnoh, four badges in the Orange Islands and all seven symbols in the Battle Frontier, Trip can go on a pokemon journey. Ash was determined to not only prove himself in these areas of the world, but to also travel with his best friend.
The next day, the gang arrives in the Cinnabar Gym, the gym leader, Blaine accepts Ash's challenge, but for the heck of it, decided to do a riddle for Brock and Misty if they want to watch, only one of them had to answer correctly.
"What is hot and cool at the same time?" Brock says "An electric blanket while laying next to an open freezer!" Blaine face palms himself and mutters "Not that kind.."
Misty answers a hot spring, which was the correct answer, and as promised, Brock and Misty get to watch the battle.
"This will be a four on four battle, the trained may substitute pokemon! The battle will be over when all four on one side is unable to battle! Begin!"
The referee called out and Blaine starts with Rapidash and Ash with Venasaur.
Rapidash uses Flame Charge, but Venasaur dodges and uses Sludge Bomb and manages to poison Rapidash. Venasaur uses Venoshock, and thanks to the poison, more damage was made, but Rapidash is still hanging in and uses Flame Charge again, but Venasaur finishes the battle with Petal Dance.
Blaine returns Rapidash and brings out Arcanine.
Ash returns Venasaur and beings out Charizard. Arcanine charges at Charizard with Extreme Speed, but Charizard counters with a powerful Seismic Toss, but Arcanine shakes it off and uses Flamethrower, but Charizard speeds down, countering Flamethrower with Dragon Rush and traps Arcanine in Blast Burn, knocking out Arcanine.
The two returns their pokemon.
Blaine sends out a Ninetales while Ash sends out Blastoise.
Ninetales uses Will-O-Wisp, but Blastoise uses a combination of Rapid Spin and Hydro Pump, extinguishing the Will-O-Wisp and knocking out Ninetales. They both switch out, Blaine sending out Magmar and Ash sends out Pikachu.
Magmar kept shooting out Flamethrower after Flamethrower, but Pikachu kept dodging and uses Dig, making multiple tunnels under Magmar, attacking Magmar after a while, Magmar tries to attack back with Fire Punch, but the tunnels made the battlefield collapse and made something like a ditch and Pikachu filled it with Thunderbolt.
"Magmar is unable to battle! Pikachu wins and the victory goes to the challenger, Ash Ketchum!" The referee called. Ash hugs his Pikachu and other pokemon.
Blaine goes to Ash with a smile and says "Ash, I'm very impressed. You definitely deserve this. The Volcano Badge."
He hands Ash the badge, along with a TM for Fire Punch and a TR for Flamethrower. Ash and the gang heads to the pokemon center, and after some training and EXP candies, Ash pulls out a device, explaining it makes pokemon that evolves through trade evolve without the trading. He dubs it the Poke-Link Box.
He tests it on Kadabra and it evolves into Alakazam. He also does it with Haunter, Machoke, and Graveler, which is successful into evolving into Gengar, Machamp, and Golem.
He scans them all.

A Pokémon that can memorize anything. It never forgets what it learns-that's why this Pokémon is smart.

Its boulder-like body is extremely hard. It can easily withstand dynamite blasts without damage.

[Gengar, the Shadow Pokemon and the evolved form of Haunter.On the night of a full moon, if shadows move on their own and laugh, it must be Gengar's doing. Ash has Alakazam teleport everyone to Viridian City and Ash and his pokemon goes in one of the forest areas for training, while Misty and Brock goes to the pokemon center.
