Chapter Four: The first attack

After my talk with Ben I got a call from Josh reporting the rogue activity, they have moved in the territory only a few of them enough to handle it ourselves, I was in pain from the rejection but I was still able to fight I jumped down from the trees landing on top of the rogue that was about to jump Josh putting my sword behind his neck through and through he fell to the ground taking me with it
    I took my sword out of his neck walking towards the others my sword dripping blood as I swing it with ease cutting one straight through his neck decapitating it I started walking again spotting 2 more running towards me
    I lifted my sword with both hands swinging it cutting one on his chest then I spun around bending my knees so I could go down cutting the other ones legs off he fell to the ground yelling then I around again getting up using all my force I ran my sword on his back to his heart while killing him instantly my sword still in his body I knelt down as a shot of pain ran through me
    I looked at the boys direction seeing them handle their share of rogues I heard one behind me slowly making his way towards me thinking I didn't know he was there but I knew once he got close I  turned around and stabbed him right in the heart his arms were above his head with a pitchfork aim at me he looked at my sword in him blood flowing out of his mouth then he looked up to look at me “see you in...hell” he slowly spat out “can't wait” I said pulling out my sword he fell on his knees dropping the pitchfork falling on his abdominal
    “you ok?” I stared at the dead body in front of me “I'm fine” I said trying not to wince at the incredible shot of pain I turned to face Josh's conserned face “I'm fine” he didnt look convinced but he  lets it go
    “They were either a warning or the first wave of attack” said chris walking over wipping his sword “I think it was a warning sending only a few to warn the alpha” we heard feet shuffling away from us we turned to see a body running away
    “Get him” ordered Chris as we all separated running after the rogue I ran on the ground seeing Josh almost catching up to him by running on the ground too I smiled and jumped up on the tree branch swinging my body around it throwing my self straight to him landing on my feet I rolled a little then got up running almost catching up to him I heard a small chuckle then I jumped over the rogue before he looked back then I landed infront of him with my hand extended hitting him right on the neck when he turned falling instantly he coughed a little bit before he slowly crawled back looking scared as hell
    “W-who are y-you” stuttered the rogue but we didnt speak waiting for Chris to show up I was standing infront  of him while josh was behind him, he looked back and forth to me and josh still on the ground, Chris came out of the bushes with David behind him “who are you?” asked chris in a demanding voice we kept our eyes on him as he now looked towards Chris “ I asked first” he said gaining some courage but soon gone when I bent over grabbing him by his neck “watch your tone” I said through my teeth the tip of my knife pointed at his heart
    “Stand down” Chris ordered I let him go and stood were I as before glaring at him “why did you come here?” the rogue kept quiet glaring back at me “Ice would you do the honors then since he isn't cooperating” a smile formed on my lips but it couldn't be seen but I smiled anyways “Gladly” I lifted up my sword and swung
    “warning!!” he yelled shielding his face
    My sword stopped on his skin only breaking it a little, a drop of blood slid down on my sword hitting the ground “what warning?” Chris asked the rogue put his arm down looking at me his face looks relieved but a little scared “what warning?” asked chris this time a little harsher
    “Its a warning...that not everyone in the alphas pack is to be trusted” he said looking at all of us “there's a traitor in his pack and we were ordered to expose them” I looked to Chris my brows furrow we both thought the same thought I looked at the rogue “why expose them?” he shrug his shoulders “we dont ask questions” I took my sword off his neck as he relaxed holding the spot where my sword was “how many traitors and what are their names?” ask Chris “there are 15 of them, no names or pictures they told us that they will reveal themselves in our presence” we all looked at each other in agreement “well then today is your lucky day!” chirped David grabbing the rogue standing him up he looked at us confused “were are you taking me” David laughed “to a magical place!” I shook my head smiling
    He tied his hands to his his back and pushed him ahead I heard a high pitch sound I turned my head a little to the side and saw something shine then disappears I jumped behind the rogue taking out my sword and deflected the object that flew towards him everyone stopped looking around “someone is here” I whispered “take him up” whispered chris
    I stood there looking every were giving them time to get up another high pitched sound I swung my sword towards the sound deflecting the small object again I started counting 20 seconds later another high pitch sound with the same object deflected I could hear the rogue yell I knew they had made it up 3...2...1 I ducked down as the object flew past me then I pushed on my legs jumping up to the trees taking cover I saw an image of a girl running away but I couldnt see who it was just her retreating figure “the traitor” I said to Josh when he jumped to the branch I was “she wont get away” he said with determination.
    We had made it to the Territory with the rogue in tow, we walked to the backyard all eyes were on us I finally noticed the blood on Josh, Chris, and David I looked down to see that I was also covered in blood I looked up ahead ignoring the stares and whispers
    “A prisoner?” we stopped in front of the Beta chris nods his head “follow me” he said walking to the side of the house to storm cellar doors he opened it and walked down the stairs we followed at the end was a metal door he opened it walking in it was full of cages he opened the first cage and stepped aside “put him here for now” David pushed him in and the beta closed the cell he looked at us “you guys should get cleaned up before you see the alpha then he walked past us we followed.
    I finally got to use the big tub and it was magnificent it was like swimming in a hut tub, I put my new uniform on brushing my long black hair back I heard a knock on the door I put on my mask and my hood looking at the mirror to make sure all is covered, my blue eyes were shining brightly I turned to go when a shot of pain ran through my heart stopping me I bent over gripping the sink  breathing trying to calm myself another knock came and I stood up straight pain and all I kept moving until I reached the door
    I put my hand on the knob and let out a breath then I turned the knob to open the door to see Ben standing there he wore a t-shirt white t-shirt that showed off his muscles, and a long brown pants his hands behind his back and he looked at me very serious I stared at him not saying anything “the alpha request your presence in the office” he said turning around to knock on the others door I stood in my door way trying to manage my pain I looked up to see Josh looking at me worriedly but I just shook my head and raised my thumb telling him I was okay, we stood in our door way until chris and Ben walked past us, we closed our doors and walked behind them down to the alpha's office
    “Good evening Ben” girls were giggling as they greeted him I felt jealous I wanted to kick their asses for flirting with him but I kept reminding myself that it wasnt me it was that stupid mate bond we finally stopped in front of the office door he knock twice before he opened the door we walked in to see the alpha siting on his desk writing something down the beta was sitting on the couch with his son looking at some papers they all looked up when we entered, Ben lead us to the middle of the room before he went and sat on the couch “give me one second” said Angelo scribbling on the paper
    “Okay, so tell me what happened today” he looked up “there was an attack today ne-” angelo cut chris off “No I know about that, what I wanted to know is why bring a prisoner?” he folded his hands together and looked at us “he has some information on the actual attack” said chris he looked worried “What if he was actually the one getting information on us and sending it back to them” we were quiet we actually never thought of that “we're sorry, we-” Angelo raised his hand to silence chris “next time please dont bring prisoners” he looked down scribbling on some paper “you may go except Ice” I looked at Angelo and to chris nodding my head he looked at me for a second before he nods all of them walked out, all that was in the room was angelo and I
    “I heard something today” he put his pen down and looked at me I stared at him not saying a word “and I just wanted to see if you truly understand what it mean to have a mate” in my head I was yelling I knew it but I let it play out he stood up and walked behind me I turned with him he walked towards the shelf full of books then he ran his fingers on the spine of the books before he stopped at one he pulled it out and walked towards the couch “this book is all about mates, from the very beginning of my linage til now, and inside only 3 people rejected their mate and there was no indication that they got back together” he opened the book and flipped a couple of pages then he closed it and put down “i understand why you dont want to be part of our world, you only see the bad part of our world cause that is your job, but you need to open your eyes wider and see the good too”  I  kept staring at him I wanted to say something but I know better he stood up and walked towards me he stopped next to me and put his hand on my shoulder
    “The world is cruel, its full of monsters” he looked at me in my eyes “but sometimes, it can be beautiful it can be amazing if you have the right person next to you” he gave me a small squeeze on my shoulder “our world may seem like a nightmare to you, because of what you have seen” I looked at him and he smiled “but trust me Ice, you havent opened your eyes to all of it, but once you do it can be a beautiful nightmare” he smiled
    I wanted to laugh at that but I kept my composure “just remember to open your eyes” he took his hand off my shoulder then he walked past me I looked at the book that was on the table “I can't” I finally say “cause your scared that you might love it, right?” I kept staring at the book
     “I'm scared to open my eyes to the beauty and lose it in an instant” I could feel the tears as I thought about Max and my mother
    “We all lose something beautiful, but it doesn't mean its gone forever, it'll always be in our hearts” tears fell I bite my lip stopping the sobs
    “We are honoring our dead tonight, if there is someone you'd like to honor then please do join us” I closed my eyes thinking about my mother's smiling at me I nod my head I heard his foot steps walking away, as soon as he closed the door I fell on my knees cupping my face and for the first time in seven years I let go, I let go of the pain, the broken heart, and the sorrow.
