"NOVA!" Adam called out to the girl who had already began walking to the bus that late night/early morning.
She heard his voice but chose to ignore as she adjusted her bag that hung off her shoulder.
She didn't want to do anything. She felt numb. Ever since she had left the locker room, Bombay's words played repeat in her head. She didn't know what to think at that moment- if what Bombay said was really true. If anything, she didn't want it to be. The last thing she wanted was to be the cause of the loss. Despite what everyone else said, she couldn't help but think if he was right about her being a push over at that game. She didn't know if she really was letting herself be thrown around like a fool or if she was just not strong enough. Either way, all possibilities made her sick inside. And now that she was thinking about it- maybe she could have done better. Maybe she really did let her team down...
"November" Adam huffed out, grabbing her hand to turn her around to face him. They had just about stepped outside as they stood in front of the dimly lit parking lot.
Adam looked down at her to see her avoiding eye contact by staring at her shoes.
"Nova?" His tone had changed into a much more sincere one as he furrowed his eyebrows to see her. He lightly grabbed her chin to face her attention to him, seeing her face clearly.
Her eyes were red and slightly puffy while her nose seemed runny- however, the boy didn't know if that was her or the cold night weather.
The boy looked at her- his expression falling immediately. His heart suddenly felt squeezed while his arms felt the urge to just embrace her.
"Have you been crying?"
November subtly moved her right hoodie sleeve up her arm to use as she wiped her nose and pursed her lips together- not replying to Adam.
"Nova.. whats wrong?" He asked
November blinked and finally looked up at him. She saw the sincere look in his eyes but all she could do was feel the tears threaten to spill. She couldn't take it but she didn't want anyone to see her crying.
November opened her mouth to speak but the moment she did so, she felt all her barriers crumble. She shut her mouth tight and let out whimpers like a puppy, making Adam Banks' heart break into pieces.
Quickly, he pulled her into him and wrapped his arms protectively around her. She stood in place for a bit before finally wrapping her arms around his torso and burring her face into his chest.
She sobbed into his chest while he looked soothingly rubbed her back. He watched as his teammates passed them by with tired looks- barely even noticing them.
"Come on.." he whispered to her as she pulled away slightly, "let's go onto the bus... you don't need to say anything... let's just go get some rest"
Nova sniffled and nodded, latching tightly onto Adam's arm for support.
NOVEMBER LAZILY walked out of the classroom that morning after Miss McKay said that class was dismissed and that she had cancelled practice. As much a November mentally questioned her authority, the girl was much to tired to do anything.
Connie and Julie yawned as they trailed behind where Averman was basically drooling on November's shoulder as he lay his head on it with a sleepy expression. Dwayne, Guy and Charlie silently walked along beside them and somehow, Dwayne's hat even managed to get into Novembers head miraculously. However, nobody questioned it saying as they all found it normal due to the lack of sleep.
All of them walked out to the garden leading to the dorms, passing by the freshly moaned grass. Everyone squinted at the bright sun as the day was beautiful- however, they couldn't acknowledge it that morning.
