Sooner or Later...You Won't Resist Me

Previously: "All I'm saying is that Cory isn't as bad as you're making him out to be. Because if you knew Cory, you'd know that he-" Courtney cut herself off. Why does it seem like she's not telling me something?  "Don't you get it Courtney? This has nothing to do with Cory. This is about our friendship. About how I feel as though you don't trust me enough to tell me things," I retort back. "Come on, stay," Cory suggest. "I can't. I have to get ready for my date with T. J.," I started. So here's my dilemma: Should I stay or should I go?

Chapter 28

I slid my hand from his. "I can't. I can't just stand him up like that. I'm not that kind of person. How would you feel if someone canceled a date with you?" I asked Cory. He looked around the round, as if looking for the answer.

"It depends on the person," he answered casual as though I just asked him about the weather.

I nodded as I just proved my point. Cory shrugged his shoulders as he began walking backwards away from me. "Okay, don't have too much fun," he teased as he pointed and accusing finger at me. He reached the stairs. I shook my head.

"I'll try," I sighed dramatically with a flip of my ponytail that was lying lightly on my shoulder.

He chuckled. "Just don't do anything I wouldn't do," he advised me. I gave him a blank look. That comment is as useless as a taking a deaf person to a ventriloquist show; it just doesn't make sense.

"Cory, there's nothing you wouldn't do," I pointed out. He stopped on the steps with one hand on the banister. He looked at me and smiled proudly, showing those pearly whites of his.

"That's true," he bragged softly. "Then don't do anything I would do," he corrected himself. He arched an eyebrow and pointed his finger as if he's a man in authority.

"Yes sir, Mr. Captain sir," I joked as I saluted him. He shook his head and chuckled.

"Why are you so weird?" he muttered as he walked up the stairs and out of sight. I exited the house and headed to Quentin's.

When I arrived at his bedroom side door and knocked, he didn't answer. I pulled out my phoned and called him.  "What's up,hot stuff?" he answered. I giggled at his lame nickname.

"Really Quentin, you're still trying new things?" I guess.

He sighed and mocked hurt. "Why you gotta rain on my parade? Huh? Why you gotta erase all my positives with yo' negatives? Why you gotta extinguish all my flames of hope? Why y-"

"I got it! I'm sorry! I won't burn your dreams or whatever you just said," I laughed. "Where is your location?" I asked him.

"My house," he replied simply. I looked at his door confusingly.

"Then why didn't you open your door?" I asked.

"I may be getting ahead of myself, but I think, it's because I'm not in my room," he answered thoughtfully, as though he was thinking hard about it.

"Okay smartass, then can you open your door?" I retorted back playfully. A while passed and I heard a click from behind the closed door.

Quentin opened the door a crack, all I saw was half of his face. "Open the door, Quentin," I instructed. He shook his head in disagreement.

"What's the magic word?" he sung. I gave him a flat look.

"Now," I demanded strongly. He pretended to think about it. I sighed. "Come on open up. I just got into an argument with Courtney and I really need someone to talk to," I pleaded. He didn't hesitant this time to open the door fully.
