Hard Lesson

I saw the signs but I ignored them,

My family said he's nice and they adored him,

My friends said  he cared that he was loving,

I was so in love that I condoned him,

I played the fool and took a leap of faith,

When I said "I do" and completely sealed my fate,

I said i was tired not in the mood,

But then he looked at me like i was a fool,

It happened so fast I wasn't sure what to do,

I felt the sting and I was too shocked to move,

It kept coming never slowing down,

So much hurting i couldn't take another round,

I felt relief when finally engulfed by darkness,

But when  i opened my eyes I could never seem to shake the sadness,

The scars will always remind me of the pain from my past,

Because it was there I learned what real pain means at last,

The physical pain will surely  go away,

But the feeling of being hurt so bad by someone you love,

Is a pain that never goes away.
