It Came Crashing in Like a Wave

Summary: Pina reflects on all the changes in Cherryton Academy.

WARNING(S)!: Spoilers for Chapter 152 of BEASTARS.

Pina sighed softly as he began his walk down the hall, gaze constantly shifting to the different animals walking through it. Despite how full it was, it still felt thinner—emptier, without the carnivores.

Even the drama club seemed less lively with all the changes taking place. Though, he supposed that was because everyone had to dive into their studies in order to keep the club running.

His heart couldn't help but sink at the thought of having the club segregated because someone was one point short of a passing grade.

He'd lose the one constant in his life, and he'd never get to see any of his friends. He swallowed, pushing down his fears and straightening his posture, walking with some care.

What would Legosi think of all this? He couldn't help but wonder, his heart sinking further at the reminder of the gray wolf he hadn't seen in such a long time. Looking back on the short time they had spent together, he regretted not being nicer to him.

Truthfully, he cared greatly about the wolf, far more than he'd like to admit.

Pina blinked, gaze immediately fixing on the snow white wolf that was in the hallway receiving unnecessary glares from other herbivores.

The wolf seemed oblivious to the attention he was receiving, almost like he was lost in thought. Pina smiled ever so slightly, being reminded of a certain gray wolf who also seemed too oblivious for his own good.

Carefully, he approached the white wolf, "This is the herbivore floor," Pina spoke somewhat tenderly.

"Yeah, I know, sorry!" came the wolf's reply as he spun around to face the ram.

Suddenly, Pina lost his voice, gaze resting on the familiar brown eyes, only to explore every other feature on the canine's face. His ear was clipped—lord only knows by what, and the deep scar over his eye was one of the few things Pina recognized about him.

A lump formed in his throat for only a moment, as his heart swelled with happiness. He quickly collected himself, pushing down the feelings that started bubbling up to the surface, "Huh? Legosi-senpai," Pina pulled a strand of hair out of his face as he spoke, "What are you doing here?" he asked, laughing lightly, attempting to ignore the heat rushing to his face, "You surprised me."

Legosi didn't respond, his ear twitching. What the ram wouldn't give to know what was going on in that head of his.

"You're an ugly albino now," Pina couldn't help but joke, gingerly placing a hand on the wolf's shoulder, "And I just keep getting prettier," he quietly added, eyes filled with love he couldn't bare to mask.

"Mm..." Legosi muttered, only seeming mildly annoyed by the comment, "It's nice to see you too, Pina-kun."
