Here are some flute techniques I use personally when playing/flute techniques in general:
- When playing low notes my air flow is somewhat slower and my aperture is larger than when I play high notes, even if it's only a little larger. Drop your jaw when playing lower notes
- When playing high notes my air flow is somewhat quicker and my aperture is very small, in fact, the higher the notes I play the smaller my aperture gets. You just have to force that high note gracefully, it's like a leap of faith.
- If you have trouble playing higher notes like I still do at times, the only advice I can give is to focus when you play them so they don't split pitches, and practice those notes.
- Whenever I'm about to play a note I hear the note in my head first.
- When playing the highest notes in the flute's range, remember to relax your bottom lip. I forget to do that at times and relaxing my bottom lip is the key to playing those high notes, for me at least.
- Curl your fingers when pressing or just resting your fingers on the keys of a flute.
- Don't drop your elbows to low or raise them to high while playing.
