I was setting up the table with Marigold at Kyle's house. Kyle was finishing up some paperwork at the jail before he came home and Marigold, Ryan, Daisy and I anticipated his return. He had spent a year in jail and I couldn't wait for him to finally be home.

"How is he?" Marigold asked. "You visit him everyday and I wasn't able to with my new job. How has Kyle been?"

"He's been great," I said. "He's made friends with a few of the fellow convicts. He misses you guys greatly though, but he told me the year flew by and he's so excited to be back together with us."

Marigold brightened up and she smiled a smile that lit up her entire face. I couldn't help but smile myself, understanding how much she missed him. Although I visited Kyle everyday, I missed him so much that my heart yearned for the day he would be free.

The doorbell rang and Daisy squealed and ran to the door. I went to sit down and Marigold sat next to me, and Ryan sat across from me. We had a bowl of noodles in front of us and I couldn't wait for Kyle to have his first homemade meal in a year.

Soon, Kyle entered the kitchen, carrying Daisy who clung to him. He had a beard now and I stared at him, feeling my heart tug at the sight of him. Kyle looked a bit battered and messy, but yet he was so beautiful to me. Even after spending a year in jail, I still loved Kyle the same.

"Welcome back," Marigold said. "Join us. You must be hungry."

Kyle smiled and went to the table, putting Daisy down. Kyle went to sit next to me and Daisy sat next to Ryan, and immediately we began to dig in. And as we ate, we caught up.

"I missed you so much!" Daisy said, smiling at Kyle. "Ryan won't play boardgames with me!"

"Please play with her," Ryan said, shooting Kyle a pleading look. "She won't leave me alone."

"Of course I'll play boardgames with you," Kyle said, smiling at Daisy. "Clarissa will, too."

     "For sure," I said, grinning.

The siblings began to argue over boardgames and despite Ryan saying he would never play with Daisy, he suddenly gained an interest in playing with us. And I knew it was for Kyle. Not only did we miss him, but Ryan did too, even though he was reluctant to show it.

"I love my new job by the way," Marigold said, smiling. "I work in this dainty office as an accountant and the people there are so nice! I'm so happy Steven helped me find a job."

I smiled as I thought about how kind Steven had been. He didn't have to, but he decided to help the Rivers family out by hooking Marigold up with a good job. With Kyle gone, Steven knew the Rivers family needed help.

"How about your job?" Daisy asked, looking to me. "Being a cop must be fun."

"It is," I said. "It's a fun job. It suits me well I think."

Kyle smiled at me, knowing I thrived as a cop. I would never go back to working for the SSI, so being a cop was the next best thing. It was similar to being a spy, but without the secrets.

"What about you, Kyle?" Daisy asked. "What are your plans now that you're free?"

"I'm not sure," Kyle said. "Maybe college? I really want to go to college. I'll need a job on the side though, too."

"Not drugs again!" Daisy's eyes widened. "Don't go down that path again."

Kyle laughed and I couldn't help but laugh as well. Marigold had shot Daisy a look, as if to tell her not to bring it up, but Kyle didn't seem phased. He had moved on from his past self.
