the next day

hueningkai:
(sees haru)
"hey-"

haru:
(walks past him )

it's better this way

hueningkai:
(sighs sadly and pulls haru to face him)

"are we really back to square one haru? i know how things turned out badly yesterday but it doesn't mean we can't resolve it?"

haru:
(shakes her head)

"i can't risk having you get caught up in shit like hina again. it's because of me. also, she kissed you. i'm still trying to get over that,"

hueningkai:
(voice cracking)
"but i pushed her away haru, what else did you want me to do?"

haru:
"you were at the wrong place at the wrong time,"

(tries to walk away but hueningkai grabs a hold of her wrist)

hueningkai:
(pleading)

"exactly haru, so why is it so hard to let it go when it wasn't my fault?"

haru:

because even though i act tough standing up against her, her words and actions make me feel small around anyone. even you.

(sighs sadly and replies coldly)
"you don't understand. it's better this way."

(bumps past hueningkai and walks to class with tears welling up in her eyes)

hueningkai:
(sniffles and breaks down)
so we're really back to the start

haru:
(opens her locker and places her books inside)

taehyun:
"oh, hey haru"

(opens his locker that is next to her)

haru:
(smiles sadly)
"hi tae,"

taehyun:
(closes his locker)
"talks by the lockers again?"

haru:
(closes her locker and nods sadly)

taehyun:
"what's wrong?"

haru:
"i put him back at our start line. over and over again, i keep putting him in the same position as before. i always leave him wondering what he did wrong,"

taehyun:
"is it intentional?"

haru:
(shakes her head sadly)

"it's always because i don't want him to get hurt anymore. i feel that he's always getting into problems when i'm in his way,"

taehyun:
(sighs)

"you know kai is the most patient we've ever met right haru?"

haru:
(nods her head)

taehyun:
"what's important to him is that none of his loved ones get hurt. his heart is made of steel towards the people he doesn't tolerate yet an open door for the people he loves,"

haru:
(smiles softly)
"how poetic, it's the perfect way to describe hueningkai,"

taehyun:
(pats her back)
"talk to him soon yea? it's going to turn out fine,"

haru:
(sighs)
"perhaps i should initiate it this time,"

taehyun:
(laughs)
"you really should. poor boy's always so caught up in what he should say to you that he forgot how to use a pencil for a good 5 minutes,"

haru:
(giggles)
"alright, alright. for the sake of his sanity, i'll do it this time"
