Ch. 6

I stand up and bring the picture with me. I thought we lost it while we were moving, but as it turns out, Jeff took it. I would have never known.

I leave the mutilated body behind me, mentally blocking what happened earlier. I would much rather not remember that, and I will never let that surface.

I put my pants on and shove my shirt in my pocket. I continue walking down the streets, wary of the alleyways. I have my knife in my pocket, why the moment of weakness? I quietly scold myself as my fingers skim over the glass holding the picture in place.

I continue walking until the surroundings are no longer familiar, then start walking back. I have a new plan.

I'll go live with the murders I thought I would never want to see again, but the events that occurred about half a hour ago keep me from leaving the boundaries of the city. I walk into the woods and hear the static noise that I recognize as Slendy faintly. I forget that its Slendy for a while.

The static grows louder and louder. "What in the hell is that?! Holy shit!"

It's then Slendy appears in front of me. If I hadn't met him before, I would have ran back the way I came. But I know Slendy.

"Hi, Katie. What brings you here, at this time of night?" he asks me with a staticky voice. I shrug and start to walk in the way I think is the cabin. He follows me, never saying a word, until the cabin comes into view.

"No one is in there. You can stay if you would like, everyone's gone killing. I was doing that, until I realized it was just you," he says. I realize that if we hadn't met, I would be dead or near dead right now. How tragic.

Then again, if we hadn't met, I wouldn't be here. Oh well, no need for getting into those time-space thingies right now.

I go inside the cabin and sit on the couch. I find the tv remote and turn it on. I tune it to Family Guy and watch as Peter dreams about making his pickup truck fly.

"I'm heading back out. Don't leave this house unless you're with someone you've already met. Don't want to meet Jane," Slendy warns. I shrug and continue watching Peter abuse Meg.

I lay down and fall asleep, not caring that this is a nest full of psychotic killers.

*~*~*~*~*

I wake up to Sally poking my cheek. I smile a groggy smile as I sit up, only to notice Jeff sitting on the opposite couch. Not looking at me. I mentally sigh.

"Are you okay Katie?" Sally asks me with sad eyes. I nod, plastering a fake smile across my face. I notice I don't have my glasses on, and I reach around for them.

"My glasses," I breath, unable to find them, "I can't find my glasses!"

It's then Jeff looks in my direction, only to look back towards the TV. I keep patting around for any sign of them, and that's when Sally sets them in my lap. I put them on.

"Why did you have them?" I ask, glee apparent in my voice. I haven't seen Sally in days. She still has that grin that shows trust.

"You fell asleep with them on! Silly Head!" she chastises me. As she does so, she pats my head. I put them back on.

"You have pretty eyes," she says, looking me straight in the eye. My eyes are a baby blue, the kind you think of when you picture a baby boy. I have blood red glasses to frame them, making them pop.

"Thank you. Your the first person to mention them," I say. It's then Jeff stands and exits the room. I watch his retreating figure as it heads to presumably his room. Sally pokes my cheek.

"You like him, don't you!" she says, like she just found out a secret. Whispering, as if someone in the room would hear. Only, we're the only people in the room.

"No," is the only answer I give. I rethought my view on Jeff when that happened. She looks skeptical.

"Okay. I guess..."

"I can't go home. I-" I start, only to be interrupted by a "breaking news" report on the screen.

"We interrupt this program to inform you of the recent missing child case. Locally, a family is searching for 15 year old Katie Price. She was reported missing this morning. In other news, local teacher found dead in an alleyway. No word yet on if these two cases are related or not. We thank you for listening to the announcements as we bring them to you live."

Sally pouts as Adventure Time comes back on. She looks at me. "They're looking for you," she says.

They're looking for me.
