Chapter 24: The Second Great War

Azure's P.O.V.

I was in the middle of the battlefield. Surrounding me were the fallen bodies of my comrades and enemies. Yang was lying on his back, unconscious. Sam, Cammy, and Penny were stacked on top of each other, with Penny on top, slowly crushing Sam. Jaune was lying face first, with red liquid slowly spreading from him. Pyrrha was lying next to him. Ren was unconscious, with Nora cradling him, mourning for her loss. Weiss was kneeling on the ground, breathing heavily while Blake was watching her downed teammates in horror. In front of me was one figure, clouded with dust.

Azure: "I never thought it would come this. To think that I would cross paths with you..."

The dust cleared to reveal the figure of a young girl with black hair with red tips.

Azure: "...Petals."

Ruby: "...I'm sorry, love. This is the only way this can end... I have to wake you up from your delusions."

Azure: "Sorry, Rubes... but I'm already wide awake. Enough talk, have at you!"

Ruby and I dashed at each other with a scream.

30 Minutes Ago

I had just gotten back from Ozpin's office to get permission to go on a vacation. He had accepted and I wanted to rest for a week before going. Right now, I was walking to the cafeteria to get some food when I heard some voices. One was a voice that I held dear to my heart, while the other was another one that was familiar, but not as close as the first.

Ruby: "You're wrong! Crazy! Blasphemer!"

Nora: "Whaaaatt??! No! You're the crazy one here!"

I don't know what they're talking about, but I'm not in the mood to get involved in what might turn out to be an all-out brawl. So I tried to sneak by them. Keyword being 'tried'.

Ruby: "Azure! Who do you think is right?!"

I halted my steps and turned around to face them.

Azure: "Uh... what are we talking about here?"

Nora: "We were arguing about which is better. Cookies or pancakes?!"

Oh... they're talking about sweets. Well, this changes things.

Azure: "Oh..."

Ruby: "Of course it's cookies! You understand right, Azure?! You're my boyfriend, after all?!"

Nora: "It doesn't matter if he's your boyfriend or your husband! Pancakes are better! End of story!"

Ruby: "H- Husband?!"

Her face turned red. I decided enough was enough before this could escalate.

Azure: "Now, now, you two... calm down. Petals, you know just because I'm your boyfriend doesn't mean that I have to agree with everything you said, right? That wouldn't be fair to the others.

Ruby pouted, but I continued.

Azure: "Besides... you're both wrong. Waffles are clearly the right answer here."

The two of them looked like thunder had struck them. They, or more specifically Ruby, were gapping their mouths like a fish, barely muttering comprehensive words.
