Do you only accept "serious fiction"?
No, there isn't a one single thing we accept! You may think of your work as "commercial fiction" with deeper themes, that's alright with us. Just submit it and we'll be the judges!
Do you accept fanfiction?
Yes, as long as people outside whatever fandom can also understand and enjoy your story.
I know exactly what the genre of my story is. Can I still submit it for your reading lists?
If you feel your story is a good fit for Avant-Pop, then please do send it in! We say we don't care about genres, but we welcome anyone able to identify with one or two genres as well.
What if my story is full of clichés/tropes?
We are aware that clichés are not always bad. If you feel your story involves clichés/tropes, but presents them in a unique way, or twists them unconventionally, and you think it could be a good fit for Avant-Pop, then feel free to submit it!
What age do the characters in my story have to be?
As long as your characters act accordingly to Wattpad's Content Guidelines, there is no limit to their age.
Do you allow mature content?
Yes, as long as it respects Wattpad's Content Guidelines, and is marked "Mature" when applicable. Please refer to Wattpad's Content Guidelines.
Does my story have to be complete?
We prefer stories that are complete or near completion. If your story has a large part of it already published, and you're updating it regularly, then feel free to submit it.
Can I submit more than one story?
You can, but be aware that we try to showcase as many authors as we can, so if you already had one of your stories featured on our reading lists, we may not accept others or consider them lastly.
Can I submit a sequel/trilogy/saga?
We accept stories that are either standalone or the first in a series. We do not accept sequels, or stories that require whatever prior knowledge ahead of reading.
Do you accept stories in any language other than English?
Yes! At the moment, we also accept stories in Italian, Spanish, Portuguese, and Filipino.
Can I submit a friend's story?
Yes, if you think their story would be a good fit for Avant-Pop, feel free to submit it, expressing in the form when asked that it is someone else's story.
