This is the fatal flaw of Thalia, she wants power even if she does know she doesn't need it.
If you know anyone who wants power for themselves, kindly remind them that they might not be the best for the task. This is a serious flaw, and must be taken care of. If not, well, look at Thalia. She almost joined the Titan Army because of her ambition.
Annabeth also shows this flaw sometimes.
