"WHITEWASH IS SO STUPID. i understand its
engraved into the beauty standards in korea, but
these things need to start being changed. like
hearing bts constantly reminding each other to
put on sunscreen during the bon voyage made
me feel really uncomfortable. large amounts of
sunscreen actually harms your skin, but these
people are so worried about being light, they
harm their skin. it's a problem that needs to start
to be worked on." - Anon

I'm going to have to agree

I'm going to have to agree. There are so many idols in the kpop industry with beautiful honey & almond skin, and all of them get whitewash (even the naturally pale idols) and it's DISGUSTING-  I know that being extremely pale is considered beautiful in Korea and that is fine, but don't whitewash idols photos for fuck's sakes, like ??? I asked my mom why koreans (and Asians in general) like being extremely pale, and she pretty much told me told me "In asia, fair skin was / is a sign of wealth and beauty". And sure, every culture has their own beauty standards but whitewashing really is on a whole OTHER level in the kpop community. Tan idols literally get picked on by their own group mates.. but what's even worse is when fans whitewash them. It probably only adds on to insecurity's, which is upsetting. This is in no way shade to those who are naturally pale, of course not. But for those who feel pressured to get pale skin, or feel like they need pale skin to be beautiful, because that's what society says, or that's the "beauty standards"... that's not okay, and please realize that pale skin isn't the "most beautiful", why? CAUSE ALL SKIN COLORS ARE BEAUTIFUL. Every skill color is so so beautiful and unique and I don't know why Asia can't get that. People really should just stop all the whitewashing, is unnecessary and rude. (Also I say this as someone's that's literally the only "tanned" one in my family- like 💀)
