Poem: The Rain

If I was a butterfly in the rain,
I would dodge the large drops
and hide under the tree tops.

If I was a bird in the rain,
I would look for worms in the grass,
not letting this good weather pass.

If I was a rabbit in the rain,
I would go underground to my den,
safe from the rain with my little family of ten.

If I was a cat in the rain,
I would shiver from the cold;
tucked away under wood planks that are green with mold.

If I was a dog in the rain,
I would protect my children from the water,
huddled close with my sons and their father.

If I was myself in the rain,
I would reach out my arms with nothing to fear,
slowly melting until the moment I disappear.
