The following day Iris and I were having breakfast.
“You know that what you are doing is forbidden and you need to stop it ?!" said iris seriously looking at me
“ what are you talking about?” I asked as I ate my cereal
“ Callista, we can't have a relationship with our Morlocks, it’s forbidden. You need to stop it now!” shouted Iris jumping from her chair looking at me angrily
“ Iris, calm down. Can you explain? Please sit down"
She sat accross from me and looked at me “ Illusionits and Morlocks can’t be together, according to a legend it is said that many hundreds of years ago an Illusionits fell in love with her Morlock and they lost all their powers. They felt weak and were never found again. It is known to all Illusionits that it is strictly forbidden and you need to stop this as soon as possible!” shouted iris
“it could be just a legend, how do you know it's true?” I asked
“ you are right, I haven't got any proof but let me ask you a question, do you get shivers when you touch?”asked iris
“ yes, I do but sometimes it’s not so strong and other times it is, but I thought it was because we are connected “ I said suprisingly
“ no! It’s because you're powers collide with his and it’s like a small shock to remind you to stay away!” yelled Iris
“ I don't want to harm him or myself, but i can't help to have feelings for him" i said sadly
“ I know, we are very close to our Morlocks and they understand us so well, but I'm telling you to stop and continue to work with him and block your feelings. You need to use your powers to help people and concentrate on thinking of your Morlock as your brother, that is what I have always done and it helps not to fall for him.” Said iris shrugging
“ I will try to take your advice because I don't want to harm him in anyway.” I said
We then got ready and waited for Alexander to arrive to take us to school but as time past we realized that he wouldn't be on time and decided to start walking to the bus stop.
“I wonder what happened to him?” asked Iris as we walked
“I guess he wants to be alone, I tried to call him with my powers but he is blocking me" I said with frustration
“keep trying, he will answer eventually, he has to, it is his duty" said iris
When we arrived at the bust stop we saw Alexander waiting there for us.
“ sorry I was late, I had some things to take care of this morning “ said Alexander
“no problem, but we better hurry up or we will be late for school" said iris as she opened the car door
I just smiled and entered the car without saying a word and remembered to block my thoughts so Alexander couldn't read my thoughts because all I could think about were is lips on mine.
We drove to school in silence and went straight to class without saying a word. The rest of the day went smoothly and I tried to stay away as much as I could from Alexander but I always felt him looking at me and that made me feel secure.
I was having lunch with iris and Amelia when all of a sudden I heard someone calling me so I turned around and there was no one. Then I heard my name again and realized it was someone calling me in their thoughts.
“Callista, Callista “
‘who are you?’ I thought
But no one answered.
“ Callista, are you ok? You have a worried expression” asked Amelia looking over to her
“ yes, I’m fine, I was just thinking about something, nothing important “ I said brushing it off so Amelia wouldn’t keep asking questions
‘ someone is calling my name, but I dont know who it is' I thought so Alexander could hear
‘ you need to concentrate more and follow the thought' responded Alexander with his thoughts
‘Callista, Callista ‘ I heard again.
I decided it was best to leave the lunchroom and go somewhere more quiet so I told Iris and Amelia that I had to get something from my locker and left the lunchroom. I walked down the silent hallway and closed my eyes and concentrated on the thought but just as I was walking slowly I walked into someone . I opened my eyes and in front of me was a guy with a big smile and the perfect face. He was tall with wide shoulders and blonde curly hair and blue eyes. He looked like a model who stepped out of a magazine.
“ you really should walk with your eyes open" he said smiling
“ I’m so sorry” I said nervously moving quickly away from him
“ don't worry, you did no harm, I’m Jake and I'm new here" he smiled
“ hi Jake, I’m Callista, welcome to our school" I smiled
“ you have a very beautiful name"
“ thank you" I said
“ Callista, I'm a bit lost, can you show me where the science lab is?” he asked shyly
“ sure,you need to go down this hall and then turn left and the lab is the first door on your right" I said
“ thank you, you are so kind! “ he smiled
“ you are welcome Jake"
“ umm... Callista would you like to show me around sometime, that is if you don't mind and you don't have a jealous boyfriend “ he said with a slight giggle
‘ say you are busy, I dont see anything in this guy, I can't read him' it was Alexander who was watching from afar.
“ well of course, and it would be no trouble at all" I said suddenly ignoring Alexander’s thoughts
I knew deep down inside Alexander wanted to protect me butiIris' words came to mind and I had to try to find a distraction from my feelings for him. I needed to concentrate more on something new because I cared too much for him and I didn't want to hurt him in anyway. I still wasn't so sure I believed the legend that iris had told me about but I still wasn't ready to take that chance. I needed time to understand this all new life I was living with powers.
“ great! Can I have your number so I can message or call you sometime? “ said Jake happily interrupting my train of thoughts
“ sure I said” i said smiling
I then gave him my number and we parted our separate ways saying goodbye to eachother. As I walked down the opposite way of the hallway I felt Alexander staring at me with anger but he didn’t say anything.
I tried again to hear the thought I had heard earlier but I didn't succeed. It seemed as if it had disappeared and it was strange.
