Cardfight!! Vanguard: R

Foreword

Well, it finally happened. Blu sold out and decided to put his work on Wattpad. But hey, at the end of the day it's an outlet to get my story out to wider field of readers.

For those who don't know me, I go by the internet handle of Blu (shortened from an older handle of Blueberry-Sensei). I have been writing for the past five years now, originally using it as a distraction. But now I look forward to one day pursuing a career in the field.

I primarily excel in the writing of short stories, poety and prose - but I have always longed to undergo the challenge of writing a full length novel. But due to my ineptability to write for long periods of time, I have decided to force myself to write a long serial based on something close to my heart.

As a hobby I began to play the card game "Cardfight!! Vanguard" in 2018, and since then my journey with the game has lead me to make some great memories and form long lasting friendships with other players of the game. The cardgame, anime and manga that are used to advertise the game, felt refreshing to me at the time and since then I have wanted to create a story based around the game.

The concept for Vanguard: R began a year ago and has since undergone a great number of changes. Originally beginning as "Vanguard EX" it would later be changed after the release of the video game title, of the same name. It would then be called "Vanguard// Legacy", involving a new mechanic never seen in the game before. But after a long contemplation, I decided to rewrite the story without it, opting to use the current Standard Format mechanics of the game.

Finally, I settled on the title of "Cardfight!! Vanguard: R".

I wanted the story to feel easy to read, so I opted to write in the style in which most Light Novels are written in, using short paragraphs however I decided to write the story in the third person perspective so as to avoid sticking to one character point of view and allowing me to transfer from one scene to another without having to announce a point of view change.

For that I would like to thank my friends who were great walls to bounce all my ideas off. Some were even garden fences who would throw something back.

With all that said, I think it's time for us to begin the story, of Cardfight!! Vanguard: R. I hope you all enjoy the story that has been lovingly crafted over the past year, and thank you once again for taking the time to read it.
