I love you in theory but not practice
What drives this brash statement from my body?
Heart untouched like a prickly pear cactus
House built out of materials shoddy
Foundation was cracked before we started
You’re a worm living in my subconscious
I’d like to think my love has departed
After the storm I’m just being cautious
My self inflicted injury, my love
A nicotine patch for my addictions
Well, is there truly a god up above?
If you throw away all my convictions
Fake philosophy in your pretty mouth
Within myself I retreat deeper south
