Flying fishes,
Swimming birds.
Mute poets,
So I've heard,
Trade their glory
For a word.
What a word!
What vainglory!
Lost company,
Sweet harmony.
Quiet coda,
Vertigo,
Softest ending,
Notes descending.
Not the notes,
Not the words,
But the rests,
Words unspoken,
Suit us best.
Whispered words,
Faintly heard,
Tenuous connections,
Silence uncorrected.
Flying fishes,
Swimming birds
They and I
Share sea and sky,
Briefly seen,
Scarcely heard.
