chapter one » new girl

Point Place, Wisconsin
1976

"THAT'S the last box," Christina huffed out as she placed a box with her name on it in her room as her mother, Kimberly, put down another one of hers in her new room.

"It's going to look nice in no time, Tina." Kim smiled as she eyed the semi-empty room that only held her daughter's boxes and bed that was in the room when they came.

"Your mother's right," Kim's new husband, Fred Lewis, suddenly said, standing in the doorway, "If you want, we can paint it a new color and change up the curtains if you want."

Christina glanced behind her to see Fred walk up to her mother to place a kiss on her forehead and pull her to him. Christina rolled her eyes and huffed out, looking at the room she now would call her own, "It's fine."

"I want this to be your home as much as it is mine," Fred told them, glancing down at Kim with a smile, "This neighbor ain't all that bad."

Fred worked as a travel agent which caused him to meet Kim in Japan. Surprisingly, he didn't mind the fact that Kim already had a teenage daughter solely because he was genuinely in love with her, or at least enough to marry her so they could live in America. Fred's friends believed Christina's mother only married him for the green card, but Christina could tell her mom was actually in love with the American.

She just didn't expect that she would have to give up her life for her mother and new father to enjoy theirs.

"If it makes things better," Kim continued, "Fred said that there are some kids your age across the street." Christina raised a brow and looked out her window that showed a clear view of her neighbors houses that she saw when Fred parked in the driveway. When she left the car, she saw a few kids standing in the driveway talking amongst themselves, not even acknowledging Christina and her new family. She was glad, but she couldn't help but notice that they were still hanging outside.

"Yeah, they're good kids. You would like them," Fred said as Christina eyed them. They're white, she unintentionally told herself. She wasn't used to being the foreigner because in the place she called home, the people she lived across from would be the foreigners. She wasn't going to like them, she could already feel it.

"We'll see," She mumbled as a response and finished looking out the window. She wasn't going to like them and she could already feel it. Though the kids across the street felt differently as they sat in the Foreman's basement.

The basement door flew open as one of Eric's friend, Michael Kelso rushes in, his hair loosely falling in front of his face, "Guys this is a red alert!"

"A 'red alert', Kelso?" Eric asked before looking over at their other friend, Steven Hyde as he spoke.

"What could it be? You snorted fire ants again?" Hyde joked, laughing to himself as he remembered the one time Kelso thought it would be okay to snort fire ants, thinking his nostrils would blow out smoke.

"No, that was one time and it didn't work, so why would I do it again?" Kelso responded, clueless of Hyde's true intentions of the question as he moved on, "I'm talking about Foreman's new neighbor."

"Are you talking about Mr.Lewis' new wife?" Donna Pinciotti, the only girl that hung out in the basement besides Jackie Burkhart, who wasn't very fond of it.

Donna watched as Kelso nodded his head, "Yeah, her and her babe of a daughter are living with that old fart. Have you guys seen her?"

"Yeah, but not really," Eric shrugged, "Red thought they were Korean, so he made us come inside." Kelso shrugged off his jacket tossing it on the couch as Eric furrowed his brows, "How did you see her?"

"Technically, I didn't really see her," He admitted as he sat on the arm of the couch.

Hyde then raised a brow past his sunglasses, "Then how could she be a babe if you didn't actually see what she looked like?"

"Because I saw her reaching for one of those boxes in the car and I just knew by her body that she was hot," Kelso simply stated and Donna shook her head as the boy were now intrigued.

"Okay, seems legit," Hyde nodded, quickly satisfied by his answer.

"My dad told me that Fred married her within two months," Donna informed them, twisting the ends of her fiery hair, "He went to Japan and came back with a wife and a seventeen year old daughter. Her name is Christina."

"Well then, she's definitely hot," Kelso went on, "Only hot girls can have names like Christina plus be from another country. I wonder if she speaks English or is she like that foreign exchange kid, Fez?"

"He speaks English, you know, Kelso?" Eric questioned his friend, but didn't even wait for a response, feeling it would just be as pointless as the last, "And what does it matter? You're still slumming it with Jackie."

"So?" Kelso remarked, "And I told you guys, I'm going to break up with her."

Hyde couldn't help but roll his eyes first and let out a laugh, "I bet I can get with that girl before you could even break it off with Jackie."

Kelso grinned, "Let's make a better deal on who can get her first."

"Deal, but loser has to buy the winner food for a year," Hyde proposed and Kelso nodded eagerly. Though, truth be told, Hyde was just doing it to toy with Kelso, knowing it was impossible for him to win.

Donna then rolled her eyes and crossed her arms over her chest as she eyed the two boys, "So are we just going to forget that Kelso is still with Jackie and that you guys are making a bet on a girl who hasn't met either of you yet?"

Kelso and Hyde looked at each other before at Donna, "Uh, yes!"
