Y/N's POV
"We're here." My dad says, pulling into a long driveway connected to a large white house.
"Wow." I say, opening my door to get a good look at it.
"Yeah, it's a lot different than the old place, huh Kiddo?" He asks, holding my shoulder.
"Yeah. For sure. It's beautiful dad." I smile.

We decided to get a fresh start somewhere else when mom died. As much as we loved Washington, it was hard being there without mom. And my dad had recently gotten offered a job here, so it just made sense to make the move. My dad opened the door to the house and we were instantly hit with a really distinct rich person smell. I'm not quite sure how you would describe it. "Throw your suit on and go explore." My dad said, bringing in a box from the van.
"Are you sure you don't need my help?"
"Yeah. I got it." I smiled and nodded grabbing one of my boxes with some of my clothes in them and running up to claim one of the rooms.

I walked along the beach a saw a boy sitting by himself on the sand. I decided I would introduce myself, maybe try to meet somebody. "Hi, I noticed you were sitting by yourself, an I just wanted to introduce myself. I'm Y/N." I smiled, sitting down next to him.
"Hi. Uh, I'm Topper. You new here?"
"Yeah. My dad and I just moved here." I noticed his blonde hair and dark eyes that sparkled in the sun light.
"Oh. Uh sorry if I'm coming off a little rude, I found out my girlfriend was cheating on me with a Pogue." He sighed, playing with the sand.
"Pogue?"
"Oh, the poor people on the island. They're on the other side of the island. We're Kooks. Well I'm guessing you are, you live on this side of the island right?"
"Yeah. Are the Pogues fun to be around?" I asked, brushing my hand through my hair.
"Well I almost got shot by one of them. But they throw pretty good parties." He laughed, turning his body to face me.
"Oh, I'm not a huge party person."  I smiled.
"I can't say the same for myself but I get it." I checked my watch and saw it was already 10.
"Oh boy I better get back. My dad's going to wonder where I am." I laughed, grabbing my sandals. "Hey want me to walk you back?"
"Oh, uh sure." I smiled. He got up and held his hand out. I grabbed it and we started walking.

"Oh I live just down the street." Topper said once we got to my house.
"Cool! See you around?"
"Hey actually, can I have your number?" He asked, rubbing he back of his neck.
"Yeah sure. Hand me your phone." I put my number in and we waved goodbye.

I got ready for bed and hung out on my phone for a bit until I fell asleep. I woke up the next morning to my dad asking to go golfing with him. "Hey hun, I decided to go golfing to try to meet some of the people on the island, do you want to come with?" I nodded and rolled over to get up.
"Yeah sure, let me just quick shower and get ready." He nodded and walked out of my room. I walked into the bathroom connected to my room and hopped in the shower.

I walked down the stairs to see my dad sitting at the table with his clubs. "Hey, you ready?" I nodded and he smiled.
"Off we go team!"
"Just me dad. Just me." We laughed and hopped into our Range Rover.

"Y/N, did I ever take you golfing back in Washington?"
"Mm I don't think so, but I never really had a reason to golf." He nodded and continued to hit the ball. "Would you want to learn?" He asked, turning to face me.
"I mean yeah, sure."
"Hey, Y/N?" I turned around and saw Topper.
"Oh hi Topper!"
"I heard you wanted to learn to golf?" I laughed and nodded.
"You know each other?" My dad asked, suddenly becoming protective.
"Yeah, we met last night when I went to explore. He lives just down the street from us." I smiled and my dad loosened up a bit.
"Hi Mr. Y/L/N, Y/N and I have really only hung out a little but she is very fun to be around. I would gladly teach her to golf, if you're okay with that." He smiled, and stuck out his hand for my dad to shake.

"That would be great." My dad smiled and shook his hand. Topper turned to me and grabbed mine. "Ready?" He asked, I nodded and giggled as we ran towards the golf cart his family had rented.

"Mom, this is Y/N. She and her dad just moved here." I smiled and stuck out my hand for her to shake.
"Hi Mrs. Thornton. It's great to meet you!" She nodded and smiled.
"Great to meet you too! I heard a ton about you last night." I giggled and thanked her.
"Okay thanks mom, we're gonna go golf now." He pulled me towards him  and we walked away from his mom.
"Sorry about that. She's kind of embarrassing sometimes." He rubbed the back of his neck.
"That's okay, I'm flattered you talked about me to your mom." I giggled.
"Oh yeah, I uh, really, really like you and would love to go out on a date with you, well a real date, if you wanted  to. Oh shit it's way too early we met yesterday-"
"I would love to Topper." I smiled at him and he picked me up and spun me around.
