A BY PRODUCT OF SOCIETY

filled with the fear of being outcasted & judged,
I give my lips no freedom to speak up,
my every activity is dictated by the thoughts of others,
sometimes I wonder what have I become

weighted by the expectations of society,
cornernerd by the social norms,
at times I am not able to sustain this pressure,
& I wish I could dismantle this wall

heart to heart connection is a rarity here,
behind every handshake there's a need,
attachments are only with things we buy,
be it goods, gadgets or expensive gifts

authenticity is more like a vague idea,
individuality seems to be a forgotten expression,
everything about me needs to be standardized,
materialism has become an obsession

money in my wallet has become more significant than ever,
much more than just a mere necessity,
for its the overpriced denims & footwear in my wardrobe,
which shall define my true individuality

& I spend & I spend mindlessly,
just so i could fit in somewhere,
to be able to satisfy the requirements of those,
with whom I share only temporary affairs.

simplicity is something I am not aware of,
modern day dictionaries don't talk about that,
the world is a theatre occupied by actors,
& the award goes to the best written act

I ain't special & I am definitely not unique,
but just another lost individual in this plane of duality,
a by product of ideas I don't care to question,
an insignificant part of the crap called society
