I told him everything. Even more then I had told that stupid shrink Brendon had made me go to when we were dating. I never opened my eyes for fear of his expression. When I finally did look up at him his face was a collage of expressions. I hadn’t realized I was crying until he reached up and brushed a tear off my face.
“Zayn, please say something.” I whispered looking hopefully into his dark eyes.
“I'm going to kick his ass,” Zayn spat out and stood up abruptly.
“No please,” I reached out to grab his hand but fell short.
“Lissy, after what he did to you? I can’t… I can’t just let him hurt you like that!” he said in surprisingly quiet voice.
“You can’t tell anyone.” I looked at him but he refused to make eye contact. “Please Zayn; you can’t treat me any differently!” I begged.
“But Lis,” he started and I did the only thing I knew would shut him up. I leaned up and kissed him. It wasn’t a very passionate kiss, just a simple kiss, but it still brought sparks to my lips like it had the very first time.
“Please,” I said once again.
“Fine,” he sighed. “But if that bastard ever tries to hurt you again…” He let his threat trail off and I was glad. I didn’t want to exactly know what Zayn would do to him.
“Thank you, now you should go back inside, they’re probably looking for you.” I wiped away my final tear and took in a shaky breath.
“Together,” He held out his hand and I took it with a smile. We ended up walking around to the front of the restaurant because the back door locked from the inside. RJ and Jack had left so I breathed out a sigh of relief. Zayn squeezed my hand as reassurance before letting it go and walking to our booth.
“God Lissy, are you alright?” Maggie sprung up and hugged me. I realized I must’ve looked like shit after crying and vomiting.
“Yeah uh, Jack burned me with his coffee so I had to clean up but it really hurt.” I made up the lie quickly remembering the giant stain on my shirt.
“She’s such a baby,” Zayn said loudly for everyone to hear. I stuck my tongue out at him and he laughed. “Thank you,” I mouthed and he nodded slightly.
“Come ‘ere.” Liam opened his arms to me and I slid into the seat next to him. He gave me a side hug and kissed me cheek.
“What did you get?” I asked looking at the table trying to change the topic.
“A piece of blueberry coffeecake,” he held up the pastry and I licked my lips. Despite puking I was incredibly hungry.
“Gimme,” I reached out and grabbed the plate. I was handed a fork so I dug into my breakfast.
“Miss,” a waitress came over to us and I looked up with my mouth full of food.
“Yesh?” I swallowed the food quickly.
“The lads over at that table left this for you,” she handed me a piece of paper and left. I gulped and put the note down on the table.
“Lissy,” Zayn said with concern in his eyes.
“Zayn,” I said giving him a warning look. He reached over and grabbed the note, opening it. I could tell how bad it must have been by the way his jaw tightened and his knuckles turned white.
