AS WE ALL KNOW, ONE OF THE FEW THINGS THAT GETS PATRICK SWAYZE (DARREL CURTIS) SO ANGRY AT C. THOMAS HOWELL (PONYBOY CURTIS) IS THE FACT THAT HE DOESN'T WEAR A JACKET OVER HIS SLEEVELESS SHIRT. ACCORDING TO HOWELL, HE ACTUALLY WAS FREEZING DURING THE MAKING OF THE FILM AND ALWAYS COMPLAINED.
C. Thomas Howell (Ponyboy Curtis) is known for not ever using his head when it is most needed. He always goes out into the freezing night air without a jacket or a coat or something warmer than the muscle shirt that we see him in for the majority of the film. Actually, this was because Coppola didn't want Tommy to wear a jacket for the entirety of the movie for one reason: He wasn't supposed to! That was the exact point of the plot and that's how you really emphasize how much Darry worries about Pony. Still, Tommy complains about the whole situation and claims that they would shoot at around three in the morning, and it would still be freezing.
