Try-Outs

Charlotte and Kayla were sitting in the dining room enjoying their first of many breakfasts at the academy as they overheard a group of girls talking. Sahra, the girl they had met yesterday was discussing the team try outs with her friends.

- I'm trying out for the Cheerleading team- said one of the girls

-I'm going for soccer- said another

Before they knew it all five girls were enthusiastically talking about what acts they were going to perform or how much they had been training.

There was only one exception, Sahra was quietly observing from her seat without saying a word.

-What team are you trying out for? - asked one of her friends

-Uhh... I don't think I'm gonna try out for anything, sports aren't really my thing- She replied

-Can you at least come to the cheer tryouts with me? - Asked her friend Sidney

-Sure thing, I'll be cheering for you from the bleachers- She laughed as they walked out

The clock hit 1:00pm which meant time for lunch, as Charlotte walked to the dining room she couldn't help but notice Sahra and her friends chatting against their lockers

-Hey! - Yelled Kayla while running at her and waving her hand in the air

-GUESS WHAT -She said enthusiastically

-What? - Charlotte asked

-You have to guess-

-Kayla I'm not going to guess

-You're so bad at this game

-So are you going to tell me or what?

-I'm trying out for the soccer team and you should too

-That's great but I don't know about that, I've never been in a team before I don't think I'd make the cut

-Don't worry about it, it'll be fun

-If you say so...

The school bell rang indicating the end of their second day, they had already started but Charlotte was already overwhelmed with work.

As she walked to her locker she saw the soccer coach setting up the try out zone, she remembered she had promised Kayla to try out with her so she went up to her room, changed and went out to the field where everyone was warming up

-You came! - Kayla said

-Of course I did

As the girls talked two girls walked up to them with smiles on their faces

-Hi! I'm Vivian, and she's Daniella- Said Vivian as she extended her hand to Charlotte and Kayla

-Hey- said Daniella

The girls shook hands before introducing themselves

-I'm Charlotte and that's Kayla- said Charlotte

The girls kept chatting until the sound of a whistle being blown announced the beginning of the tryouts

-Good luck- Said the older, brown haired girl as she and her friend walked over to line up

At the same time inside the gymnasium cheerleading tryouts were being held

Sahra sat in the bleachers as she watched her friends warm up, it seemed like they were talking about something but she didn't think much of it until the girls went over to Coach Clark and started talking, She couldn't help but notice Coach Clark looking at her while her friends pointed.

-Sahra, come here

Worried she walked over to Coach Clark

-What's up Coach? -She asked

-Put on that uniform and get in line- Replied Coach Clark

-You're mistaken Coach I'm only here to watch

-If you're in the gym during tryouts you try out, now go out on the uniform

She grabbed the uniform and quickly changed in the bathroom but just as she was about to leave she heard something

-Is someone in here?- She asked right when the stall door opened, it was Charlotte

-I'm sorry I didn't mean to scare you- She smiled

-Don't worry about it, I overreacted--She laughed - Hey aren't you the girl I helped yesterday?

-Yup that's her, I MEAN, that's me- She said nervously

Sahra laughed before asking

-Are you trying out for the soccer team?

-Yeah my friend made me, I don't think I'm gonna get in tho- She added while looking down, suddenly she felt a hand on her arm

-Hey don't worry too much, I'm sure you're the best one out there- Both girls laughed as they walked to each one's destination

Time passed and as the sun was setting Coach Uster blew a whistle and held up a list of people who made it in the team

- Good work everyone, the results will be posted tomorrow morning in the notice board- Yelled Coach Uster as he called over a couple of girls to help pick up the cones around the field

After that the girls showered and went downstairs for dinner, they talked about the tryout and commented on whether they think they made the team or not

-Do you think we got in? - Charlotte asked

-For sure! You were great out there, Coach Usher would be stupid to not put you in the team- Kayla responded

The girls went to bed and continued talking until their bed time

-Good night- Said Charlotte

-Night - Replied Kayla

The next morning as they walked down the hall the two girls noticed a group of girls standing in front of the notice board, Charlotte's eyes looked for Sahra but couldn't find her anywhere

-Who are you looking for? -She asked just as both coaches walked up to the board with their respective lists.

As soon as they pinned them the girls stepped forward

-You read them- Said Charlotte

Kayla got closer to the list and starting looking for their names and just as she reached the end of the list the girl looked down with sad eyes

-What happened? - Asked Charlotte- Did we not get in?

-You got in- Kayla replied- But I didn't

-I'm sorry Kayla

-Don't be, at least you got in

Charlotte felt as if she should be happier about getting in but she could only ask herself why Sahra wasn't there. The girls went on with their days but while walking past the notice board Charlotte felt the urge to spy a little so she approached the board and started looking for Sahra's name

-She's in the team- She thought to herself, not being able to resist a smile popping up on her face
