Adlyn's life was so much worse now. She was just a retard. She couldn't talk. Nothing but retarded noises. She couldn't walk. She had muscle spasms.
One day on the couch, she wanted so badly to tell Eve how much she meant to her. But nothing would come out. Except retarded noises.
She reached for a pencil and pen but when she tried to write the muscle spasms came. And her fingers were messed up.
When Eve came over, Adlyn cried. When Eve asked what was wrong, Adlyn couldn't say anything.
You mean so much to me. The teenager wanted to say it so much. But she knew she would never say it again.
"Adlyn. Everything will be okay, I promise." Eve looked Adlyn straight on. But words meant nothing. They just rolled off Adlyn's back.
