The Sargent's Daughter
S1 EP1
"What do we have?" Maggie said, greeting the EMTs who walked into the emergency room with a patient on the stretcher.
"45-year-old male, left leg amputation"
"Trauma two!" Maggie said, pointing towards the room.
"Train motorman. GCS 3. BP of 90 by palp." the female EMT said.
"Maggie, where are we going?" Will said, looking at the patient.
"Go do trauma four!" She said looking at Will.
"Maggie, I need the x-ray here," Ethan said, exiting the room.
"I got you," Maggie said.
The emergency room was full of patients rushing in with bad injuries, a train crashed, and were getting to Chicago Med since it was the closest hospital to the accident.
"28-year-old male, crushed injuries, severed artery, massive blood loss," Rhodes said, giving chest Compressions as he sat on top of the patient.
"Trauma two just opened," Sharon said as she held the phone against her ear.
"Got a tourniquet on his right leg, tried to be intimate but couldn't get his jaw open. He lost his pulse on the ride." Rhodes said.
"Put him on our monitor and paged transfuser. Grab 4 units of O-neg, and start with a round of epi" I said looking at Rhodes.
"Already hit him with the epi times two. Still no pulse. He's in fib."
"Let's get him in the bay. I got it from here, sir " I said looking at him.
"Nope, he's mine," he said, still giving him chest compressions.
"Get off the gurney Doctor, I'm a senior resident in this ER," Will said entering the room.
"Yeah? Well, I'm your new granuja fellow." He said getting off the patient.
"Since you got it from here Doctor, I will go help other patients," I said smiling at him before exiting the room not waiting for his response.
"Left Ac, obvious femur fracture. Good distal pulse" the female emt said rolling with a female child on the stretcher.
"It's blown," April said, looking up at me and Natalie.
"Sweetheart, we're going to take good care of you," I said, putting on my stethoscope.
"You have to go back for my daddy!" She said crying out.
"I love my daddy"
"Do you know anything about that?" Natalie said, looking at the male EMT.
"Pretty sure her father was loaded. Must've been sent to Sinai or County" he said looking at both of us.
"Okay, sweetie look, you see this lady right here?" April said looking at Maggie.
"Uh-huh," she whimpered as Maggie waved her hand at her.
"Her name is Maggie. She can find anybody, anywhere okay? I promise she'll find you daddy for you" April said in a calm voice to relax the child.
"Better believe I will, hon," she said before closing the curtains to the room.
The whole emergency room was working fast and hard at work on the patient's injuries, with doctors and nurses rushing from room to room, and patients being rushed into rooms and to the operation rooms.
"Did you find my dad yet?" She said as I shined my light into her eyes.
"We will, sweetheart. Don't you worry" I said.
