Madeline Sanchez is a 25-year-old doctor working at Chicago Med, one of the best hospitals in the Midwest. Raised in a high-class household, Madeline rarely saw her parents, relying instead on the household staff for her upbringing. Despite their absence, her uncle Hank Voight was a constant presence, serving as a father figure. Whenever asked about her father, Madeline would often mention Hank Voight, reflecting their close bond. Following a bitter divorce from her ex-husband, she decided to focus solely on her career until she encountered a blue-eyed detective.

Jay Halstead is a 27-year-old ex-Army Ranger who has transitioned to a successful career in law enforcement. Leveraging his military skills, Jay quickly advanced within the police department, becoming a detective in the Intelligence Unit after just five years. Despite his professional success, Jay has always struggled with relationships, often pushing women away. His disinterest in romance deepened after a significant breakup with Erin, leading him to concentrate entirely on his career. That was until he met a certain doctor with captivating brown-green eyes, unaware that she was his boss's daughter.
