"You guys can hear it, too?"

Bode asked his siblings. I had followed him around sleepily, holding his hand throughout the house. Right now, Kinsey and Tyler were standing at the open piano. The key they held was shaped like a treble clef.

Tyler was now grabbing the 'brown box with the swirls', as Bode had called it. The box was pretty: it was covered in musical notes high and low. The staff reached all the way around, stopping on either side of the keyhole.

The box was slowly, carefully, and nervously opened by Kinsey. She gave weary eyes to all of us, unknowing of what would happen. But the box, the beautiful wooden box, held nothing but a ballerina with no head.

"Abracadabra?"

I took a closer look at the box. I had seen it before. Used it, maybe once. Seen it, tons. I'm not quite sure, but I think I know what it did.

"We're not alone. There's four of us now."

I laughed, leaning my head onto the back of the chair we shared.

"What's so funny?"

"I don't know. But what I do know, is that we weren't alone before."

Bode turned to look at me. I could see his perplexed face in my peripheral vision.

"We had each other, dummy!"

~~~
I said goodbye to Bode, who wrapped his arms around me in a quick hug before rushing off. Then he stole his moms toast.
"Y'know, [Name], we should get you back in school, too."
I looked at Nina.
"Yeah, I guess so."
"I think I can make arrangements."
I stopped the woman.
"Wait, do you think anybody would recognize me?"
Nina turned, looking confused.
"What do you mean?"
I took her up to Bode and I's room. The box was still under the bookshelf, and the key around my neck. I pulled both out, opening the old thing.
"When did you find this?"
"This used to be my room" I said. She nodded, watching me shuffle through photos. A photo (which I thought would be easiest to see) was when I was six or seven. I was wearing a yellow dress and black sandals. My hair was in a ponytail and tucked into a flower crown. Lets just say that my family were suckers for photos.
"Awe, you were so pretty," she said. I smiled.
"So, do I look similar?" I questioned her. She looked at me long and hard. She looked at the photo long and hard. After a few moments, she decided.
"Well, I'm not sure if anyone would know who you were. But to me, you look very similar," she said. I placed the photo back in the box, waiting for her to continue if she would.
"How about this: I'll give you a few days to decide whether you want to go or not."
I nodded, smiling as she left.
~~~

I sat in the back seat, waiting for Bode and Nina to return to the car. The boy had brought a blacksmith hammer to school. I didn't know why, but I want to. And all my questions were answered when he said,

"For protection."

I turned my head, trying to hide the sympathy I felt for him, but I'm sure he could see me in the sideview mirror.

~~~
I waited outside our room as Mr. Duncan talked to Bode. He said that he had recognized me, but he didn't know from where. I wouldn't up and tell him that I had just been humanized from ghost form, of course. I had to quickly come up with a lie , so I just told him that I was Bode's old friend from Seattle. He did look skeptical as he passed, but nodded a somewhat goodbye and shut the door.
The two spoke for quite some time. I couldn't help but listen in while I was reading my book. And I couldn't help but think about what his mother told me earlier. Should I go to a real school? It had definitely been awhile.
