Felix was marveling at an odd sight.
Three tulips stood in a row. The rightmost one was red, a color Felix was still awed by. The left one was orange, Felix's favorite color.
He couldn't figure out what the middle flower's color was. It frustrated him.
Someone passed by him. "Which one don't you see?" a kind, matronly voice asked Felix.
He turned in surprise, making eye contact with an older woman. "The middle one," he confessed. "And the grass, but I know that grass is green. I only see red and orange."
"This is yellow," she said, confirming Felix's suspicions that it was a light color. He knew what they all looked like in grayscale, but it got confusing, sometimes. Especially since red and orange occupied so much of Felix's attention. "Have a nice day, dear."
Felix smiled at her, grateful for the help. He snapped a picture of the three tulips. Someday the picture would look right, he hoped. If he actually managed to find his soulmate again.
The man was evasive, to say the least. Felix knew nothing about him, except for his face and his voice.
A voice he would recognize anywhere, even in the middle of a random park.
Felix stumbled along the path, his pace quickening with each melodic note sung by a voice he'd never forget.
"You," he breathed, bursting into a clearing. The singing came to an abrupt end.
"You," echoed felix's soulmate, a grin splitting his face. "Why, hello, there."
Felix joined him, sitting down on the colorless grass. "Hi, uh, dude."
"Bro."
Felix looked up at his soulmate, feeling something buzz inside him. Even if he'd been bro-zoned.
"Don't call me dude; we're, like... uh... destined to get married or something."
Laughing, Felix sighed with content. He already liked this man, although not in that way. Not yet. Not all soulmates were predetermined lovers, after all. For now, he simply allowed himself to enjoy the company.
"Oh, I'm Felix, by the way."
"Minho. Nice to meet you."
And it was nice. Felix missed his friend's birthday lunch, completely forgetting about anything that didn't relate to his conversation with Minho.
Both left that encounter elated beyond belief.
Felix glanced back down at his photo, beaming with the realization that he could see all three tulips.
Felix saw yellow; Felix understood why the bright color was always associated with joy and energy.
His favorite color switched again, jumping to the newest one he could see.
