Title: So Will I

RECAP:

The moment Ezran saw Callum near the edge of the cliff, he screamed. He screamed so loudly that Claudia almost had to step back, before she noticed, too, and ran towards the cliff to see where Callum was now.

Ezran instantly scrambled to grab Callum's hand just before he fell, but he watched as his only brother plunged deeper and deeper, as his grip loosened. The cliff was so tall that you couldn't even tell whether or not Callum had landed.

No doubt about it, to emphasize, the cliff was so high that you could barely even see Callum halfway through. When he jumped, there was nothing too visible except a small, blue dot falling slowly, getting smaller and smaller. That's just a taste of how high it was- it seemed like he was on the top of a skyscraper, because

"I'm going to go get him." Ezran declared.

And he jumped.

---------------------

"Ezran, no!" Claudia screamed in an attempt to grab the young king's wrist, but she also watched in horror as both Ezran and Callum plummeted into who knows where. The cold wind burned against her tears that threatened to fall down her face, as she took off her bag, throwing it onto the grass as hard as she could.

"I'm going after him-" Claudia began as she approached the edge of the cliff- only to have Tiadrin grab the collar of her shirt and pull her back.

"No, not yet," Tiadrin sighed.

"So you're just going to let them fall?!" Claudia snapped. "What if we don't see them again? How are we supposed to get anything done? Who's going to be the new King of Katolis? The queen? Why is this happening-"

"Please, calm down. You need to breathe," Lain confided.

Claudia nearly burst into laughter- she didn't exactly know why, maybe it was the lack of oxygen, the situation she was in, how she acted under stress, but she thought it was hysterical.

"S-so, you're telling me," Claudia said through snorts. "That we're in a situation where two royal members of Katolis are falling down a cliff and you think it's fine? You think that you know, this is just free time right now?"

"No, we both know that Callum-" Lain began.

"Yeah, what about it," Claudia laughed, trying to control her anger. Why didn't they understand that not only members of the royal family were falling, but the thing that she ever had closest to, "a friend" was them? Despite everything she did to them...

"Claudia, we need you to calm down, are you feeling alright?" Tiadrin said, trying to feel her forehead as Claudia smacked her hand away.

"Oh, I get it!" Claudia screamed maniacally. "You're telling me that you don't want them to live because you want them to just- just what-" she said, suddenly.

"Claudia, what's going on with you? You don't look too great. You need to-"

"No, I don't want to calm down!"

And it was only at that moment when she looked down at her reflection at the lake beside her that her skin was cracked, purple, and her eyes were exactly the same. She looked almost like... her father.

For a while, she thought that it was her father's love she had to earn. It was that she needed his approval for everything, and she wanted to grow up to be like him- but now? Now she wasn't so sure.

"What's wrong with me?" She screamed, jumping back at her own reflection.

Tiadrin and Lain exchanged knowing looks with eyes filled with fear.

"What, so now you're not interrupting?! Explain what's happening to me!" She quaked.

Tiadrin took a deep breath, and crouched beside her. "Listen," she sighed. "Things in life are going to happen as you grow up... that you can't quite explain."

Claudia stopped panicking to stare at the Moonshadow elf who was... suddenly helping her? After all she's done to them? Heck, she didn't even remark them calling her a monster, nor insulting her when they met. Instead, they had treated her with forgiveness-

And that was something she had never felt before.

"And it won't be easy," Tiadrin continued, skipping a stone down the lake. "And it'll be very hard to process what you're about to hear."

"What is it?" Claudia asked.

"You're going through a stage that... most dark mages go through if they learn magic with no control."

"What?" She had plenty of control! She had been doing dark magic nearly right after she was born!

She watched as the skipping stone went plop into the water with a loud splash.

It was suddenly so quiet that you could almost hear something like... a bird soaring.

"You're letting the power of dark magic control you," Lain said, breaking the silence.

"But I-" Claudia began, only to find a figure soaring up in the sky with someone on its back. "Who is that?"

"Callum and Ezran!"
