Avery

It's been two days since we came back from our dinner with the Knights and I heat up just thinking about it; how he held me, how sinfully delicious he smelled, how velvety his voice was and how he literally breathed in an aura of confidence, control and authority.
And most people would find all of these things super attractive and everything but for me, it just scared the living daylights out of me.
I was completely and absolutely terrified.

Hayden Knight was beautiful; there's no denying that and despite being scared shitless, I couldn't help but feel sorry for him that he'll have to be tied down with someone who is as ordinary as I am when he's clearly at the peak of his career and life.

I look at the ring that's dazzling in my hand. It just doesn't sit well with me and the more I gaze at it, the more sure I am of it.
The ring was an embodiment of everything I was not. It represented something extraordinary, something that you couldn't look away from, something that sat rightfully and gracefully, claiming it's place with confidence and pride.
I was none of that.

It was on that very thought when Olivia comes striding into my room.
"Hey munchkin, how you holding up?" She asks, standing in front of me in all her glory.

I shrug helplessly, not wanting to indulge in a conversation right now.
Thankfully she doesn't push it anymore.

She sits on my plush pink ottoman and looks at me,
"Soooooooo" she drags on;

"I've been meaning to tell you, that I'll have to get back to work urgently. I kept a lot of my projects on hold and if I push things off any longer I'll never get another contract again" she says in her light and Easy manner, chuckling off at the end.
I chuckle too because I know she's just so full of it. We both knew there wasn't a single company who wouldn't want to work with THE Olivia Marshall and she loved getting a dig out of it.

"You're going away again?" I ask anyways, my voice now incredibly low.

"Aw babygirl, you don't have to be so upset, I promise I'll be back by the time the wedding festivities start" she says with a wink.

I couldn't help but sigh at that.

"Speaking of which...." she continues;
"Dad wanted me to make sure that you don't get any silly ideas, you know.." she says, sounding uncertain for the first time in this whole conversation.

"What kind of ideas?" I probe.
"You know, he doesn't want you to have any ideas of running away before the wedding,"

I gape at her as she says that, not knowing how to respond to that.

"I told him you'd never do that though, because I know you Avy and I know that you'll never ever ever do something that'll bring shame to our family name" She says with a smile, her voice weirdly sweet that I actually feel uncomfortable.
She looks down at my hand, my ring sitting proudly on it.

"Take care of things while they last Aves, or by the time you realize how much they mean to you, it's already way too late" she says with a sad smile.
She doesn't give me a chance to respond as she hops off of the ottoman and strides gracefully towards the door.

"Bye lil sissy" she says just before shutting the door behind her.
I look at the door helplessly, feeling that this conversation had a completely different tangent than what I thought it did.
"Bye 'Livy" I whisper quietly to myself, as I settle myself in for the night.
