After all, it wasn't like showing up on their docks with two police officers and a broken boat looked good to her parents, who, by that point, had been waiting to eat some cheesecake for over an hour. So needless to say, her mom hadn't been best pleased. The opposite, actually.
Her mom had given her a good telling off for being out in the marsh when it was closed, about breaking the boat while she was out there, and then proceeded to tell off her dad for even letting her out there in the first place.
"Pigs'll fly, huh?" Her father had said.
By the time anyone got round to eating the cheesecake, the atmosphere was pretty tense.
Sure, it wasn't the worst thing Sonny had ever done. They would get over it easily, so it wasn't the reason why she found herself unable to sleep that night.
