George ate another piece of fish. He had 2 left. After hearing the zombies dying on the sunlight, George waited a minute before going out. He gathered his furnaces and made his way out. When going outside, he hid his eyes with his hands, dazzled by the light. The view of the Minecraft world at daytime was outstanding. How could the world be possibly so scary? George looked at the river and wondered if he should fish more.

Everything felt so real. The night that had just passed, the darkness that has been all around him at night, the taste of the fish, the warmth of the furnace. George looked at his hands and sighed. He looked at his reflection in the water, and poked his own cheeks. Everything felt like reality. Taking his clothes and shoes off to shove into the water, the young man felt the coldness of the water. It was really refreshing, and yet he couldn’t find anything positive in what he was experiencing.

George put back his clothes on and switched the items in his tool bar. He had to check if the iron he had collected has been taken. Though he hadn’t so much hope, he needed to walk to calm himself down. He wondered how many time has passed since he entered the virtual reality. A Minecraft day and night were supposed to last like, around ten minutes, but he felt like the days have been so much longer than it used to be. Maybe this virtual reality made him feel like the days were longer.

The young man walked his way back to where he was. As he tried to find his way, in the distance, he noticed a high tower of wooden planks in the middle of the forest. At its top, there was a sort of balcony and he could see a bed. George’s heart started racing. Someone made this. Someone was here. Dream. Only he could do this stupid kind of things. That was Dream’s.

George sprinted as fast as he could to reach the tower. When he reached it, he noticed how close he was to the cave he first had been. Maybe Dream had built this tower on purpose. I want to check that tower first, thought George, his heartbeats going crazy. He shouldn’t hope so much. Yesterday has already been a huge rollercoaster of emotions.

George towered up with cobblestone to reach the top of the high wooden tower. There wasn’t anyone, he already knew that, he would have seen a nametag otherwise. When he reached the top, he went to touch the bed. The blankets were messy and the sheets were warm. George breathed out. A sigh of true relief. He squeezed his hand against his forehead and sighed. He closed his eyes. Yes. Someone was here. Dream was here, George told to himself. He was holding tears so bad. He wasn’t alone. It was great. It was so relieving. They just had to find each other.

He was so lost in his thoughts he didn’t notice the arrow that almost hit him, flying above his head. George startled, losing his balance. Falling on his butt, he noticed a nametag ahead of him, a bit lower. The hunter. George frowned and grabbed his sword. He didn’t have a shield. It was the worst. So that was it? A manhunt. George smirked and bit his lips. Okay. Bring it on. If it was the only way to get out, he was going to take this game seriously.

George sneaked and waited in silence to hear the hunter would do. He could hear his steps on the leaves below him. Maybe he was planning to tower up. George hoped it was the case. He could hit him and make him fall. But the hunter didn’t, and instead it went for the furnaces at the entrance of the cave.

NO! God dammit. George stood up. The hunter was indeed targeting for the iron. Maybe it’s my chance. George jumped from the tower and towered in mid-air. The damage was awful. He bit his lips. He was overestimating his own abilities. It was Minecraft, but it was still reality. His legs starting aching with pain. Urgh. Go on. Jump. George jumped and lose several hearts. He couldn’t help but groan when he reached the ground. His heart was beating so fast. George ate a fish, hoping it would help him to regain his hearts. Hopefully, the hunter didn’t care anymore about him and George couldn’t see him anywhere. Let’s forget that iron. He’ll get iron on his way anyway. George managed to get up as the pain from this legs started to get away, and ran as fast as he could.

So manhunt it was. George was rushed with adrenaline. He did so many manhunts, and he rarely won as the speed runner, but here he was. Good. If Dream was aiming to beat the Ender Dragon to leave the world, George would eventually find him at some point. George was now laughing with bitterness and anger. This world wanted to trap him, but it had trapped two excellent speed runners that were actually good with this game.

“Dream, if you’re out there”, George said while sprinting, “Let’s meet in the End.” It was a promise to the skies, a promise to his friend, and mostly a promise to himself. Let’s beat this game together.

George stopped for a while to kill some sheep. The hunter wasn’t following him. Good. He had to find iron now. A ravine would be ideal. The idea of being in a real cave was really frightening, even though George has stepped a bit into one already. George crafted a smoker, waiting for his food to get ready. He was playing with his sword impatiently, aware of everything around him. He couldn’t wait to meet Dream. Dream was here for sure. He knew it. They would meet. They’d definitely meet.

George continued searching for a cave or a ravine. He was going through a desert. The air was terribly hot, and George felt very thirsty. He wiped away the sweat from his forehead. Rabbits were jumping all around him, and he saw some items on the ground. Raw rabbit meat and rabbit hide. As George picked them up, he looked around him. He had a feeling. A familiar feeling. He decided to climb on the highest dune near him to look around. Once he reached the top, he looked down and then he knew. He giggled. Such a familiar feeling.

There was a village.

George jumped from where he was, targeting towards the village. He saw a cat in the corner of his eye killing a rabbit. That was the feeling. George approached the cat to pick up the loots, but then when he saw the cat, he felt weak. It was a ragdoll cat, with white and soft amber fur and blue eyes. His heart tightened. So damn cute. He wanted to pet it so much. The cat started walking in the opposite direction, and George sneaked to approach it. He had raw fish in his inventory. Maybe that would work. George didn’t have much time, but he really wanted to.

George stood still when the cat raised its head to walk towards him with mistrust. George put the fish on the sand, hoping for the cat to eat it. The cat ate the fish and looked at George, like it was hoping for more. George couldn’t help but smile. “Here, another one.” The cat meowed, grabbing the fish in its mouth, and started cuddling against George. Aww.

“You’re so cute. I shouldn’t waste my time, but right now, I really needed this.” George petted the cat. The cat finished his fish and looked at George with big, curious eyes. The young man stood up. Alright. Time to explore the village. He’ll think of a name for his cat later.

George explored the village, and took as much wheat as possible on his way. His cat was tranquilly following him, letting out a meow or two. The village was really large, and it was really impressive. Even though the villagers had funny faces, George didn’t have the time to laugh at them right now. He was searching for one building in particular, and saw it for afar. He smirked. The blacksmith. Let’s hope there was some diamonds or two.

George entered the forge. The sight of lava was quite stunning. George gulped. Just the thought of being burned down was frightening. He had to go to the Nether, if he wanted to finish the game. It was going to be hard. It would definitely look like hell with this reality filter. He didn’t really want to think about it now. The dark-haired man walked in the house to see that his cat was sitting on the chest, looking at its owner with cute eyes. George let out a giggle and petted the cat.

“Oh, no! Come on! You want attention, don’t you? Here you go.”

George was smiling, but this whole time, he was still worrying about Dream. The cat meowed, as it noticed that George wasn’t looking at him. He sighed and petted the ears of the creature.
“Let’s call you Eddie for now, kay? Now get up. Shush. Hurry.”

Dream was nowhere in sight, and as the Minecraft World was so vast, maybe he would find another stronghold than George’s. It would be fine, but George wanted to be reunited as soon as possible. He wasn’t sure to handle all this adventure by himself. Eddie meowed one more time in approval, and jumped to cuddle against George’s legs.

George opened the chest and his eyes widened. It was too good to be true.

“Alright, let’s kill the iron golem”, he told Eddie, his freshly crafted diamond sword in hand.
