Different from the rest

chapter 2

The next morning

It was morning now and Tenma woke up from hearing his alarm clock, he really didn't wanna get up but he didn't have a choice either. He got up and did his usual morning routine, after that he went down with his schoolbag to the kitchen, during mornings - and pretty much the entire day - he's pretty much always alone since his brother practically always goes to work very early in the morning. He checked what he had in the fridge and started thinking what he could do for breakfast, in the end he did miso soup, grilled salmon and white rice, considerably a normal and traditional Japanese breakfast . After he finished he washed the dish and bowls by hand instead of in the dishwasher and afterwards he prepared his own bento for school, once that was done he stuffed it in his bag and went to school by feet.

During class

Class was not the best for the second year's, because today their maths teacher was going to give them their maths exams that they took a couple days ago, - Tenma took it yesterday - nobody was ready to see the results because for all of them that was a  hard exam, even for the usual smart ones(a.k.a Shindou and Kirino). The teacher called the students one by one to get their exams and most of them were pretty devastated looking with their results

"Tomorrow I want all of your exams signed by your parents." Said the teacher out loud, then the bell rang so she left and the students were discussing about their marks

"What is your mark Shindou?" Asked Kirino to his best friend

"95, what about you?"

"91." Then the pink haired defender looked over to the young brunet who took out his bento box and was about to go and eat lunch somewhere else, he then came up to him and asked

"Hey, Tenma what is your mark?" The brunet looked up to him and saw pure curiosity in his eyes, Shindou was beside the defender and his eyes were also filled with curiosity. Instead of answering Tenma handed his exam to Kirino, the pink haired defender took it and both second year's saw his mark at the top right corner

'100!?' The two friends were astounded, they didn't expect Tenma to get a 100 mark on his very first second year exam, they did a thorough check of the exam and the questions were the exact same as theirs. Then they glanced over to the brunet who had his hand held out gesturing for them to return his exam, it took them a few seconds to come to realization but in the end Kirino gave back his exam and Tenma place it again in his schoolbag, he looked over to the two older boys and they were still staring at him with disbelieving eyes

"Um... Shindou-senpai, Kirino-senpai?" He said as he waved his hand in front of their faces and it finally got them back to reality "Are you two okay?"

"Oh uh...yeah we're just... shocked about your mark." Responded Shindou for the both of them, Tenma smiled at them and his eyes were flashing with understanding, he then excused himself to go somewhere else to eat lunch.

Saturday morning

Tenma woke up with the sunlight this time and that is because it was Saturday, the start of the weekend. He did his everyday morning routine and went down to cook breakfast, his brother was once again already off to work so he was on his own, not that he minded, he opened the fridge and he thought that he should probably go grocery shopping cause they were running out of food. For that morning he had tamagoyaki omelette, white rice and some pickled radishes, after eating and cleaning up, he went to his room and got dressed in a plain white shirt with a blue jean jacket and blue jeans, he was all ready to go so he grabbed his wallet and keys, went down, put on his shoes, went out locking the front door and was on his way to the grocery store.

On his way there he saw two people coming in front him that looked like a sweet couple, and judging by the matching rings on their ring fingers it seems like they were husband and wife

'They sure look happy together.' Tenma smiled on the inside at the thought of that, then out of nowhere someone ran from behind the woman and snatched her handbag causing her to tumble a little at the same time, Tenma also saw how that man smirked at the woman. He was charging towards the brunet's direction and shouted

"OUT OF MY WAY, BRAT!" In a threatening voice, but the brunet stood still with his head lowered, bang covering his eyes, the man couldn't care less so he just decided that he was gonna run this kid over, but things didn't go according to his plan. When he got just a few steps away from Tenma, the brunet looked up with an icy look in his metallic orbs, he then quickly grabbed both of his arms, twisted them and went behind the stealer with his twisted arms and his whole body held in place. The man himself was shouting in pain, Tenma then twisted the arms even more and that caused him to loose his grip on the handbag, once the handbag was no longer in his hand he let go of his arms and quickly kicked him in the back which made him fall forward, the stealer looked behind him and saw the boy glaring warningly at him, that glare send shivers down his spine so he immediately got on his legs and started running away. Once that man was pretty much out of sight Tenma picked up the handbag and saw the brand of it

'Chanel, huh? No wonder he went for this one.' He then walked towards the woman handing it to her

"I believe this is yours, ma'am." The woman was at first shocked by the boy's skills, but quickly came back to reality taking her stolen handbag

"Oh, yes it is, thank you." She said as she smiled at the boy, Tenma bowed his head and softly smiled at her as a sign of 'no problem'

"Well, I have to get going now, goodbye ma'am, sir." Said Tenma before bowing to them and leaving to the grocery store.

Tenma came back from the grocery store and his brother was still at work, which was no surprise cause usually he comes back at around 9-10 p.m on weekends, - cause he likes getting most of his work done on weekends in order to get Tenma after school - so once again he didn't know what to exactly do, since it was still quite early - not even 12 o'clock yet -. After a few minutes of putting everything in the fridge he decided to go for a dive in the swimming pool, he changed into his diving suit with his diving goggles and put on his fins right on the edge of the pool, he also had a water resistant timer which hanged from his neck. When he was done with everything he got into the pool first, started his timer and then he dived down, their pool was relatively deeper than most pools that most people have in their backyard, and that is because both swimming and diving were Tenma's passions, Tenma had other passions but diving is one of the special ones. He dived deeper and deeper until he touched the ground, underneath it all it was kind of dark but also relaxing, he felt the pressure of the water on top of him but it really didn't matter, he feels like the entire world is shut out and he's in a relaxing and quiet place. But not too long afterwards he started feeling the need of new oxygen so he swam up, pierced his head out of the water and stopped his timer. The rest of the day he spend it working out, cleaning the house, doing the laundry... Eventually dinner time came, so he did his own meal and ate it alone, which only happens during weekends. Then at around 9:26 p.m Reo came back from work, Tenma was watching TV shows, and when he heard the door opening that was like an audio cue for him to start cooking, so while Reo was upstairs changing into more casual clothes Tenma was downstairs cooking a warm and healthy meal for his brother.
