chapter 4

A butler opened the gate for them and a maid opened the front door, they changed their shoes to slippers before walking around inside, they first went to the living room cause they had to discuss today's occurrence with Shindou's parents. When they entered they saw the two parents on the couch drinking tea

"Oh sweetie, Kirino welcome back." Said the mother then she spotted the brunet who was half hidden behind Shindou "And who is that, sweetie?" She asked looking at the younger boy, Tenma came out to full view and presented himself

"Matsukaze Tenma, Shindou-senpai and Kirino-senpai's classmate and partner for the project, it's a pleasure to meet you." After the last sentence he took a bow as a sign of respect, the mother and the father were in awe seeing the brunet

"You're the boy who retrieved my wife's handbag." Shindou and Kirino's eyes were wide as plates when they heard that - the two parents told them about the robbery - and turned heads to Tenma who simply nodded his head while saying

"Yes indeed, sir." After that they settled down on the couch and they told them that they had something important to tell them, the parents saw how tense the kids were which made them concerned of what they have to say. In the end, Shindou himself told his parents what happened back at school, saying that the parents were shocked would be an understatement their expressions were much worse than Shindou's when he almost got killed, they all stayed silent for a while and the atmosphere was getting heavier and heavier as the minutes went by. After quite some time Shindou's father broke the ice by saying

"Me and your mother have to discuss this matter out, in the meantime you and your friends can go to your room and start doing your project." The three boys obeyed his father and went to their son's room to begin what they were supposed to do here in the first place.

2 hours later

After 2 hours or so, a butler came in telling the boys that they were being called by the master and mistress, specifically Shindou and Tenma though Kirino was allowed to go with them. The three boys went back to the living room and there they saw that the mother and father had serious and guarded faces, the mother gestured her hands for the boys to sit down. Once the boys had made themselves comfortable, the parents shared a look before the father spoke up

"Me and your mother have been talking about this situation while you three were working on your project. And we have something to tell you." He directed it to his game maker son "Me and your mother have also been recieving attacks these past couple weeks." The three boys eyes grew big hearing that, but that wasn't everything

"We've been attacked at our work place mainly though we also receive them here occasionally, we don't know who's targeting us or what is their intention, but it seems like now it has also targeted you, honey." Said Shindou's mother with a frown on her face - which didn't suit her at all - , the young captain had a hard time comprehending her words but in the end he had to accept reality though there was something else that was also bothering him

"What are we gonna do...?" He asked his parents, they looked at eachother before sighing and looking back at him

"The police are aware of these attacks and they're doing everything they can. We hired trained bodyguards for us, but you have your studies and having a full grown bodyguard around you at all time, even during school it would most likely be a distraction." What his father said broke Shindou's heart into pieces, as much as he didn't wanna believe it he couldn't deny it, what his father said was true and nothing could change that

"But here is where we want to ask you a favor." Said the father directing it to the brunet who has been listening very closely and carefully alongside Kirino, he raised an eyebrow resembling confusion "We wanted to ask you to be our son's bodyguard." At first the whole room fell silent, no one was even breathing

"Eh?" Tenma was the first one to break the awful silence "Eh!?!?!?!?"

"Woa, woa, woa, dad slow down. What are you talking about? Do you even know what and who you're asking?"

"Trust me son, I know what I'm doing. Me and your guardian are very good friends Tenma-kun-"

'My brother? What does he have to do with all of this?' Questioned the young brunet in his mind but it was immediately answered by the father himself

"-And he has told me everything about you, he told me that your skills are high up to the extend of professional bodyguards. He also said that when you were around 12 you took a challenge against some of his own bodyguards and you managed to leave all of them drop dead on the ground." The jaws of the second years dropped wide open with just the thought of a 12 year old child defeating full grown adults that have been professionally trained in fighting

'Oh, so that's why.' Thought the brunet to himself "He really had to go and bust me out." He muttered under his breath but loud enough for everyone else to hear

"We don't wanna pressure you but we would be very grateful if you could be our son's bodyguard. We're aware of the fact that you go to the same class and team as him so it would be a lot easier for you to stay with him instead of a full grown man or woman." Stated his mother which sounded more like begging, Shindou was continuously protesting obviously not willing to risk his friend's life for his own, but Tenma already had the proper answer in his mind

"I'll do it." He said it with fierce determination, the game maker and his parents who were initially arguing with eachother along with Kirino who was silent throughout the entire time turned heads to the brunet

"Tenma are you-" Shindou who was about to say something was cutted off by the same brunet

"No, I'm not crazy senpai. I willingly accepted this to protect someone I care for, not because I've lost my mind and I don't care if you don't agree to this cause I'm still gonna be sticking around you even if you don't like it." The captain was at a loss for words, trying to take in Tenma's speech

"Sir, I'm willing to be Shindou-senpai's bodyguard." Directed the burnet to the man this time, the husband and wife looked at eachother smiling happily and eyes glistening then they turned back to the young boy

"Thank you so much Tenma-kun." Said the mother happiness visible in the ringing of her voice. They didn't have to say anything else because their faces said so much more than words could ever say, the two protesting older boys also gave in seeing that first of all whatever they said would never change their minds and second it was Tenma's own choice so there was no room for argument, despite all of that Tenma himself had one more question

"But there's one more thing." The father gestured for him to go on "If I'm gonna be Shindou-senpai's bodyguard that means I'll have to stick around him 24/7 and that includes after school, but how am I gonna protect him if we live in different places? And I apologize in advance if I sound rude right now but I don't trust the one I have to protect in someone else's hands, and just like you said earlier sir, you've been targeted in your house so I can't risk the fact that Shindou-senpai might be attacked here too." Everyone in the room was stunned, none of them have thought about it up to that extend and yet a 13 year old boy managed to come up with such detailed and complimented question and reasons, minutes later the father's shock was replaced with a proud grin

'He really is a trustworthy boy.' Thought the father satisfied with his election for his son's safety "Please, give me a moment." Demanded the father as he took out his phone dilating a number. While the rest were waiting patiently for the man to finish his conversation Shindou tapped Tenma's shoulder bringing his metallic orbs to his brown eyes

"Tenma are you sure about your decision?" Asked the game maker, worry and disagreement clearly showing in his voice and eyes. Tenma also felt Kirino's gaze on him so he turned around to see and it was true, Kirino was in the same state as Shindou but neither of them fazed the brunet

"Yes, I know the risk that it brings but I'm willing to bear it." Both of their eyes widened slightly, Shindou retrieved his hand that was still placed on the brunet's shoulder when he heard his father clearing up his throat to speak

"Me and your guardian have come to an agreement, Tenma-kun. The plan is for you to move in with us in order to protect our son at all costs." They heard sharp intakes of breath from the two older boys but luckily they didn't say anything else against it "Tomorrow you're gonna move in with us, so for today just go to your house and pack all your stuff to move in with us."

"Ok, sir."
