☝︎︎translates to "Can we talk about the Lumineers?"😌

Hi yes the Lumineers are SO UNDERRATED

LIKE NO ONE KNOWS THEY EXIST BUT THEYRE VERY TALENTED AND ITS LIKE WTF

okay no more shouting lilly

If you—like so many others—have no idea who the Lumineers are, allow me to enlighten you :)

They Lumineers are a folk rock band that released their first album in 2012. The band started with three members, but are now down to two—Jeremiah Fraites and Wesley Schultz. That, of course, doesn't include the rest of their touring band. Those are just the core two members.

If I had to compare them to someone you might know of, I think I'd say Bob Dylan, or perhaps Donovan, especially their early stuff.

Their debut album, the Lumineers, is very acoustic and folksy. It contains a few of my favorite Lumineers songs, including "Slow it Down," "Dead Sea," "Classy Girls," "Stubborn Love," and "Charlie Boy." I think that it's probably my favorite album of the three they've released so far. It's all got such a melancholy feel to it, and I really enjoy it. I hope to get it on vinyl sometime soon.

Their second album came in 2016 and was titled Cleopatra. It's the middle child, kinda stuck in between the first and most recent albums they've come out with. It only had one super popular song on it, so it is often forgotten, which is preposterous because it is a ...*finds another synonym*... magnificent album. IF YOU WERENT ALREADY SOLD, this is the first album where my baby Jeremiah gets a little piano feature🥺Sitting at one minute and thirty-seven seconds long, the piece is called "Patience," and it is 1/7 of the seven wonders of the world oMg listen nOw.

Finally, their newest album, released in September last year, is fittingly called III. This is actually a bit of a different—and very depressing😂💀—album. When listened to in order, this album tells the story of three generations of the Sparks family, showing how alcoholism effects more than just yourself. It's a tragic story. There are music videos to go along with it. The lore is deep mfs go check it out because it's actually fascinating. Highlights of this album include—but are definitely not limited to😌—"Gloria," "Leader of the Landslide," "It Wasn't East to be Happy For You," and of course "April/Salt and the Sea," which I have referenced many a times on here already.

In conclusion, the Lumineers are a remarkable group that needs more love🥺

They're all very good musicians and SENSATIONAL songwriters. Their songs are literally PERFECT, I—

Jeremiah is my favorite pianist of all time because his style is so unique, haunting, and beautiful.

NOT TO MENTION, Wesley is a fantastic guitarist and vocalist.

Just—

I'll stop now

Listen to the Lumineers😔✌🏻

For context, I don't know what prompted this rant. I was looking for my song challenge song for tomorrow and decided on a Lumineers song, started listening to III, and then decided I need to write this?
