The balmy lingering of you spreads
like Homer's rosy fingers of dawn
as you lift above the bed
from an anguished sleep.
You rise with the light.
You seize yourself.
The intensity
of a newborn star swelters
in your mouth
like hard candy.
Here is the sweet
water for sugar ants,
crawling a desperate path,
anxious of your ram horn
authority that swells
and sometimes gores.
Too much, Aries.
An ember stoked to wildfire.
Only peace in the peach pit
of your comfort —
a fleshy interior
split and bare without perception.
This is the unseen.
This is the well-loved.
