Hawk took her to where Thomas was. He explained that the place hasn't been used in a while and doesn't have much upkeep. The place was hidden behind prickly, unkept lengthy bushes. The place smelled like mud and rust.

"Thanks again, Hawk," Blake said, looking around.

"It's no problem. Anytime. Maybe I could show you around, give you a small tour of this box we call home. Well, only if-"

"Beat it, Hawk. Come on, Blake, I'll take you to Tommy," Newt cut Hawk. Blake couldn't help but feel bad for the sad look on Hawk's face.

"Yeah, show me around sometime!" Blake called at Hawk. He smiled and nodded, then happily skipped away. When they got to where Thomas's cell she couldn't help but cringe—the place looked disgusting. Only one bar window allowed Blake to see a very bored Thomas on a little chair. A wooden door with a menacing rusty metal latch kept Thomas in the cell.

"Never thought I'd be friends with some criminal," Blake joked, smiling at the word "friend".

Thomas rolled his eyes. "I'm so bored. What's going on? What time is it? How much longer?"

"Long time to go, Tommy. You have only been in the bloody thing for an hour," Newt shook his head.

Thomas let out a long sigh, plopped himself back on his little chair, then reset his head in his hands. Blake wondered what she could tell Thomas.

"I was worried about you. Why did you run in the Maze that late! You're such a doorknob, you know that?" Blake crossed her arms.

"Didn't realize I ran that far but I'm okay, right? And I know I'm such a doorknob. What's that mean? Doorknob?" Thomas asked.

"Means your stupid."

It was quiet for a moment as Blake thought what to say. Then her mind wondered upon the very thing she spent arguing for yesterday. "Guess what. I'm going to be training to become a Runner with nail-brain you."

Thomas smiled. "Great, I won't be the only shank."

Blake rolled her eyes. "You'll always be the only shank."

She didn't even realize that Newt was still standing there.

"Do you have to stay out here the whole day?" She asked Newt. He looked surprised to be acknowledge.

"No. Some Bagger will watch, Tommy."

Blake didn't even realize how boring the day would be. She couldn't join the Runners yet and could only talk with Thomas for a short time. "Today is going to be so boring."
