Chapter 8

Chaeyoung was surprised when she received a call from Jungkook during the rehearsal.

James noticed her pale face and asked, "What's wrong?"

"He said, he will pick me up here." Chaeyoung murmured, still in a daze.

"Oh, that's great then, just three days, and you have almost reached our goal. Lina will be pleased. Oh, when he arrives, don't forget to act like we are not acquainted. It's the best option, in that case when you disappear, he won't pester me about your whereabouts." James said to remind Chaeyoung of the drama happening right then.

Chaeyoung's face suddenly got sour.

James noticed it and sighed. "Just guard your heart. This is life's unfair reality. Sometimes, you need to be selfish and do things against your will because of your love for your family. In my own opinion, just breaking his heart is not that cruel. Some people even have to kill, rob or do many things even worse than what they can think of. Meanwhile, you don't need to do something bad like that. Besides, you have a valid reason."

Valid reason? Chaeyoung closed her eyes and sighed.

She heard James sigh too and added, "Maybe, if you feel that Jungkook is already into you, you should try to balance everything and see if there is a possibility of opening things to him. I can feel that you like him, or probably he has a good impression of you, so that is the reason you are hesitant now."

"To be honest, yeah, I have a good impression of him. If only he was a jerk, it would have been easier and I wouldn't even have a second thought. That's why I'm also curious, why someone like Lina is bothered to the extent to plot something like this against Jungkook. If we think thoroughly, we're not even sure that Jungkook will fall for me." She said while frowning.

"Well, maybe, it's better for us to not know the whole story and get involved too much. Just do as Lina says and don't think about anything but your family. This is the fastest solution you can bargain for at this moment." James commented.

At the backstage, those models, who came back after their catwalk, were giggling.

Most of the models were foreigners, they spoke in English or their native language among themselves. One of the models, whose name was Dana, sat beside her and said, "Those girls were frantically talking about our country's pride: most prominent tycoon bachelor."

Chaeyoung's eyebrow creased, she already had an idea, who the model was referring to, but she still asked innocently, "Who?"

"Jeon Jungkook, he was personally here, watching the rehearsal. I wonder if he is acquainted with someone here or he is dating one of the models. You know what a playboy tycoon like him can be, changing girls like gloves." Dana commented.

She raised an eyebrow and said, "I have never heard any buzz about him being a playboy though?" That was true, or probably she just happened to miss one?

Dana laughed and said, "Don't you know that someone has died because of him? It is said that a girl committed suicide because of him... Well, that news was suppressed just in a minute. All social media were silent after that rumor as if nothing like that has ever been reported. It's just so happened that I knew a close friend of the girl's family."

Chaeyoung just remained silent and did not try to know more. She was just not interested in baseless rumors from others, especially when it was unrelated to her. James was right, it's better she knew nothing at all and just proceeded as planned.

She took out her phone and messaged Jungkook.

[You are early. You might get bored. Why don't you return to the hotel first so you can rest some more?]

Jungkook creased his forehead seeing Chaeyoung's message.

[Why would I get bored when I had the chance to feast my eyes with continental beauties? Don't mind me, I will just wait here to see you walk, then I will pass my judgment on you later. Haha...]

Chaeyoung pouted her lips and threw her mobile phone back in her bag.

It was her turn and she effortlessly walked on the runway.

She saw James smiling meaningfully, as he looked at her then glanced at Jungkook every now and then. She raised an eyebrow at him then shifted her gaze to Jungkook, who was staring at her like she was a specimen under his microscope.

'Criticize my butt, let's see if there's something to criticize at all.' She said inwardly as her lips curved into a wicked, alluring smile while she blinked an eye at him before turning around to walk out from the stage.

James almost laughed out loud from afar when he saw how playful and teasing Chaeyoung was. He was sure that she was doing it intentionally.

He was also observing Jungkook from the very beginning and he could say that the guy was definitely hooked with Chaeyoung's undeniable charm.

It was so obvious because he was busy with his phone when other models were on the runway, but when he saw that it was Chaeyoung's turn, he stopped doing other things and closely gave his full attention to her.

'Did he even blink? Poor guy,' He thought inwardly as he shook his head.
