Chapter 14

"Did you invite him to the show?" James asked Chaeyoung during the rehearsal break.

"Okay, I will get you a VIP ticket for him," James said when Chaeyoung just shook her head as an answer.

She had never thought about inviting him at all. She thought that she would feel pressure and guilty, knowing he was watching. One of the main reasons was that she didn't want to drag him into gossip or scandal just because of her.

"Hey, what's wrong? What's with your long face, sighing and checking your phone all the time?" James asked out of curiosity when he noticed that Chaeyoung kept on looking at her mobile phone every now and then.

"Nothing, I'm just thinking if we will be able to see each other today, but I guess we won't," Chaeyoung answered with cheerless tone.

The last call she received from Jungkook was at that morning. He reminded her to not forget her meals and about his whole day schedule, though she already knew since she had a copy of his itinerary and important meetings. So, most probably they wouldn't see each other that day.

James frowned and said, "Hey, I told you to guard your heart. You must not let yourself fall for him. That's too shattering."

"Don't worry. I do like him, but it is not 'love' yet, okay? There's a big difference." Chaeyoung defended herself.

She understood James because she herself knew that falling for Jungkook would just make things more complicated.

"I just want to make sure you will not be the one to get hurt in the end," James commented as he sighed deeply.

He didn't want Chaeyoung to be in this kind of situation too. However, it was better than selling her body, like what others probably would have done if they faced a trial like hers. That was the harsh reality because he himself had witnessed and even knew people who do that, having a connection even to married, rich tycoons or sugar daddies for easy money.

There were those, who took advantage of their beauty and body but ended up being tragically abused or even killed. He didn't want Chaeyoung to end up like that because of her desperation to help her family.

Lina already had girls lined up to replace Chaeyoung after she disappeared. It only meant that they planned to make Jungkook fall for every girl they hired and ditch him all over again.

Actually, he already had a hunch that whoever it was: the motive was to make sure Jungkook realized how it felt to lose your desperately loved one, how it felt to be heartbroken all over again.

The question was, who the hell was that childish person, who wanted to do something like that.

Jungkook , on the other hand, was quite busy the whole day, attending a conference as a very important guest speaker. It took him the whole day, so there was no chance to see Chaeyoung before nighttime.

At the evening, he even had a hard time to escape those important business associates, so he ended up drinking with them.

On his way back to the hotel, he was already kind of tipsy. He took out his phone to call Chaeyoung and check her out. Her mobile number just kept on ringing.

'Is she already asleep?' He thought with a frown, as he massaged his temples. His head was spinning because he unconsciously drank a lot of shots.

He missed Chaeyoung and his day seemed incomplete if he wasn't able to see her.

Meanwhile, Chaeyoung slept early because she was quite tired of the rehearsals, which were long and exhausting than the usual as they had to repeat it for several times because of uncooperative models who showed bad attitude during the entire practice.

She was in a deep sleep when she was awakened by continuous belling of her door. "What the heck, who would bother me this late at night?!" Chaeyoung jeered.

She stood up quickly still with sleepy eyes, her face was so reddened because of annoyance. The thing she hated the most was being disturbed when she was in a deep sleep.

She opened the door and was ready to scold the person who interrupted her.

She was taken aback, seeing who it was and asked, "Jungkook? Why are you here?"

Chaeyoung looked at the wall clock at her back and it's already midnight.

Jungkook smiled at her with his narrowed cute eyes and said, "I told you to peep on the hole first before opening the door. Why are you so stubborn?"

"Are you drunk?" Chaeyoung asked as she frowned because she could smell the alcohol from him, combined with his manly scent.

Jungkook just blinked his one eye and said, "Yeah I had too many shots. I missed you already. I will go inside. I won't bite, I promise."

Chaeyoung frowned as she was hesitating and still absorbing his words. Jungkook noticed it, so without waiting for her response, he quickly went inside her room and closed the door.

Jungkook hugged her tightly and whispered to her ear, "I will sleep here tonight. I missed you the whole day, so I plan to consume those wasted hours by staying here, with you tonight."
