"I still don't understand" Twilight said to Cadence "Sentient? Crystals can go sentient with magic? How? " Twilight asked with confusion, Cadence chuckled at her sister-in-law's confusion "Well Twilight to answer your question, Crystals are on of the few objects that can store magic without blowing up" Cadence explained while she walked up to the many cushions placed around the room, she summoned another cushion and placed it beside her and Twilight who was following her sat down Cadence then continued her explanation "Since crystals are rocks, they have a stronger resistance to exploding than a book or glass so enchanters prefer to use crystals as magic holders" Cadence glanced at Twilight to see if she got all that and Twilight nodded for her to continue "Now enchanted crystals because they have a better blast resistance can hold a good amount of magic and this gives the enchanters many different ways to enchant their own amulets, healing stones, protection, the possibilities are endless depending on the crystal you have since all crystals are different and have different properties" Cadence then summoned some tea with her magic and poured her and Twilight a cup. Twilight took the cup and took a sip "The explanation might take a while" Cadence said while sipping her own cup "Continue" Twilight encourage who was very interested and had all ears on Cadence "Right, well at some cases crystals have the right properties to make a powerful weapon if the enchanter is powerful enough to do so, it would take about alicorn level magic to make something like the crystal heart. The crystal heart itself was made by the previous leader, Queen Rabia thousands of years ago" Twilight tilted her head at the name "Queen Rabia? I never heard of her" Twilight stated "Well from what the stories have told me any records of her was burned during the first crystal war though I never knew who was behind it" Cadence said thoughtfully "Wait first crystal war? I thought the first one was King Sombra's reign" Twilight said being very confused about the information she was given "Let me explain" Cadence told her with a small smile "Before Princess Armora, the crystal empire was ruled by an alicorn, Queen Rabia" Twilight spitted the tea she was drinking "SHE WAS A WHAT?!" Cadence chuckled "Calm down Twilight it will make sense" Twilight levitated a napkin to wipe away some tea from her mouth and nodded to Cadence to continue

"Queen Rabia from the recovered documents was a one of the sisters of the royal family of King Osiris, the king had three children with his wife Queen Peumbra, Umbra the eldest, Rabia the middle and the youngest Tenebris. The king had given one of the gem colonies he had conquered at his early reign to his daughter, Rabia which will be later known as the crystal empire, the king was suppose to give his kingdom, the great dynasty to his heir Umbra but some unknown reason he had give in to his son Tenebris. Anything recorded of the alicorn family had been lost except for the fact Rabia declared independence to the crystal colony and her father granted it and he and his wife gifted her one of the dynasty's greatest creations, the heart. It was said they gave independence to the other colonies and gave it to their families and gave them hearts to protect them from danger and to use as a weapon if needed."

Cadence sighed and added "All that the empire's historians could gather after that is that there was a war on the alicorns and they well... vanished" Twilight cocked an eyebrow at this "Vanished?" she asked "Yes, the burned diary and reports from the past queen's time mentioned how the kingdoms were going through a war and alicorns of said kingdoms just started disappearing" Twilight processed the information "Does the sisters know about this" Cadence nodded "We just recovered them few months ago the historians are still trying to properly piece what they found even historians from canterlot had found some things from the past that may help like reports and journals, the princesses even donated their parent's journals" Twilight looked surprised to that "You mean the late King Cosmo and Queen Galaxia that mysteriously disappeared?" Cadence nodded again "Yep,  the princesses hoped that maybe with this information the historians could piece out what happened to them" the two went into a comfortable silence to let all the information sink in "Wait, if those shards over there can record their environment do you think it might have some information from the crystal war? After all it wouldn't be a huge stretch if these shards use to be the heart of King Osiris kingdom since I did catch his son's name at some point" Twilight stated, Cadence thought for a moment then looked at Twilight "That could be a high possibility I guess there's one way to find out" She then stood up and walked up to the pedestal that held the shards. Twilight followed and soon the two were standing at both sides of the floating shards "Ready when you are" Cadence told Twilight,  Twilight nodded and Cadence castes the same spell as before and the two saw light one more

(AN: I'm horrible at describing appearance so forgive me but I will post an art book dedicated to this book so don't worry but for now just use your imagination)
The scene shifted to a room with different colorful glass murals that had different alicorns. A young colt ran into the room in excitement, his coat was light grey and black spots similar to a snowy owl's littered his body. His mane was a flowing curly black and faded into white at the end. He had a tiny horn who's tip was purple, he also had bright purple eyes. His parents soon came in after him with a foal. The tallest who was his father had a black coat who had white spots and markings on his body like a sooty owl, his hair was white and some were tied into a a loose bun and the rest was left down, the front was covering his eyes. His horn was long and curved and was tipped with purple and his eyes could not be seen because of the hair covering it. He was wearing a armor similar to future Sombra minus the crown and cape. Beside was his wife who had a black long mane and her horn was long and curved and faded into red. Her coat was white and had black spots similar to a snowy owl. She had red eyes and wore the same armor as her husband but it looked more lighter. Something noticeable about them is that they had bigger wings that normal even the children.

The young prince was flapping his tiny wings excitedly and he flew up to the crystal "Hey there, Dad said you could understand us and can talk that would be cool if you could speak!" the colt exclaimed happily "Saros don't get too near and-" before the king could finish "and be careful got it" the prince continued while he flew down to his parents, the queen was carrying a foal who looked way to small in the blankets that he was wrapped in "Hi Sombra" Saros greeted cheerfully to the foal in their mothers arm, Sombra looked at Saros and reached a tiny hoof to him "Well Saros it seems your brother wants you to carry him do be careful, alright?" the queen told him, the prince nodded and flew up a little and carefully picked of his sibling, the young alicorn is too weak from an early birth to even begin to walk properly so he can only really crawl "Hey Somby wanna go see the heart?" the small foal nodded and Saros carefully flew up to the crystal "Cwystal" the foal said "Yes Somby it's a crystal and when we grow up we have to protect it and the kingdom" Saros told the foal who in return was making baby noises at the crystal and reaching out his tiny arms to the crystal "Tenebris, dear do you think they will have the power to protect the heart from that vile sister of yours" the queen asked her  husband that was watching the two sibling have an animated conversation with each other and attempting at getting the dynasty's heart or the core to talk which just glowed as a response to the two princeses "Don't you have faith in our sons my dear Isis, Saros is incredibly skilled at strategy and magic at such a young age and Sombra started talking at just a few months" King Tenebris chuckled at his wife "You're right I should have more faith in our sons" Queen Isis said while stretching out her wings black spotted white wings"Say, why not we go and take a little fly before we go back inside" Tenebris asked his wife while stretching his wings as well "Let's! My wings have been aching to fly for ages" The two then called their sons and the family took flight from the balcony of the room

Cadence and Twilight come back to reality and blinked a few times "Well" Twilight said "That covers some of the information that your historians needed right?" Cadence looked at Twilight and sighed "Yes and it also gives us a more solid connection to King Sombra" Twilight sighed "This is gonna be a long story to explain to the others" Cadence laughed "Trouble seems to always follow you and your friends huh? Cadence asked "Yes" Twilight said with an annoyed expression
