Bus Ride

Under the colorful city lights,
In the middle of a busy street,
Inside a public unmoving vehicle,
Stuck in the usual traffic jam in Manila,
A few seats away from where I was
I saw you, eyes-closed, earphones on and forehead creased.
Seconds later you opened your eyes and it landed on mine.
I was caught off guard not because you saw me staring but because you smiled at me.
For a moment I thought it was real, until I see your smile turned into a mischievous grin.
I felt my cheeks burning on what you're probably thinking.
My heart then started to beat uncontrollably.
Realising what could happen possibly.
Minutes passed and we're still at the exact same place our eyes met.
You're eyes still linger in me that I feel it in every fiber of my body.
Suddenly the bus started moving and I'd thank the driver for such a move.
The ride was tiring and nerve-wracking.
Exciting but alarming.
As I stand and walk my way out, seeing the familiar scenery outside,
I stiffened when I felt your radiating presence just behind my back.
I lost my senses; I don't know how to react.
I feel my knees wobble so I search a handle for support.
But then I felt a hand on my back,
Gently holding me to keep my track.
Until the bus stops and I walk away,
Slightly turning my head to look your way.
And I see that smile of yours again.
Charming yet intoxicating.
Beautiful but suffocating.
As I stepped out I grip my chest,
And a crazy smile formed my lips.
