Gray Matthews was standing in my apartment looking gorgeous.
All the while I'm standing in front of him looking like a total looser in my worn out baggy t-shirt and shorts.

"What happened there? He asked, pointing to the enormous puddle of red wine in my kitchen.
Damn, I still have to clean that up.

"Wine, I knocked the glass."

He chuckled, at me knowing how
graceless I am.
Gray and I go way back. He was a friend of my brothers growing up.
He was that gorgeous Jock that everyone at school had a crush on.. INCLUDING ME.
It's been a long time since I've see him though.

"You're all fingers and thumbs, just like I remember."
Gray placed the brown paper bag on the coffee table and looked around my apartment.
Whatever was in that bag smelled delicious.. Like Chinese take out.

Did he bring me dinner?

Is that the reason why he's here after so many years of not being in each others lives.
Out of the blue he thought he would just bring me dinner.. Na, there's some other reason.

"Why are you here, Gray?"

His back was to me as he looked at my family photos sitting on the shelf.
"Your brother called me.. He said you needed my help."

Lines formed between my brows in confusion.
"Your help.. Why would I need your.."
It dawned on me before I even finished my sentence.. My mother hired him.
"You're my new security?"

"Don't act so surprised."

"It's just.. I didn't know you and Evan kept in touch.
I didn't know you worked security."

He turned around with his hands in the pockets of his black fitted trousers.
"We didn't.. It's a recent thing."

It must be, It's been a long time since my brother has even mentioned Gray.
Now he's here in my apartment ready to protect me.
Can't say I mind too much.. He's going to be such a distraction though.

Gray made himself comfortable on my couch, taking some food from the paper bag.
The smell of sweet and sour chicken filled the room and it left my stomach rumbling.

"I brought your favourite. Sweet and sour chicken.
It is still your favourite, Right?"

I was left surprised that he even remembered.
"Yeah, Thanks Gray."

He sucked some sauce from his thumb. "You're welcome."
Gray patted the space on the couch next to him.
"Sit down, Layne. There's some things we need to discuss."

"Um, I need to go do something first."

"You're not going to change on my account, Are you?
His eyes travelled my body.. Spending a little longer on my chest that was hidden underneath my t-shirt.
"You're fine as you are."

"Thanks, But I just need to pee."

I walked my narrow hallway to my bedroom at the end.
When inside I closed the door behind me and walked to my dresser to grab my brush.
My hair was a mess from laying on the couch, so a quick brush right now is as good as it gets.

Why the hell did he have to call around when I'm in my worst possible state.
I sighed, looking down at myself.

"Can I get an AMEN."

Before going out to join the sexy man that was sitting on my couch, I decided to make a quick call to that mother of mine.
She has some explaining to do.
